Finally bought my first luxury watch!
After nearly 3 months of researching and trying on various watches, I finally pulled the trigger on the Grand Seiko SLGA009. Must have looked over 30 watches and in the end, went back to Grand Seiko. The dial, the case design, and the spring drive movement are simply too mesmerizing to resist.
Couple of things I realized after owning it for a week:
- You can look at all the videos you want on YouTube and understand the nuances and how the watch shines etc, the moment you actually hold it and put it on your wrist, it still blows my mind.
- I might have to buy some clothes that are not t-shirts or sweatpants...
- This really is quite a "stupid" hobby. We are essentially throwing money away on this little piece of jewelry that tells time (some more accurately than others, but none more accurate than our phones lol)
- If we are being honest with ourselves, buying a watch really shouldn't be considered an investment (maybe buying a Rolex? can you actually get one though?). BUT, man does it make me happy looking down at that dial 😂
- I want another one now...
PS: it certainly helps that when I was taking a vacation in Barcelona, the local AD gave me a small discount on top of the tax free 😉

Congratulations, that's a real beauty. I think @Nick99 hit the nail on the head - sounds to me like money well spent. If a watch (or any other non essential material possession for that matter) doesn't bring you joy, what's the point in having it?

For sure man, I think it makes much more sense than having it in the front. You don't need to know how much power it has when you are wearing it and you can always take a quick peek before wearing.

That is the nicest GS I have ever seen. With the power reserve indicator on the back instead of on the dial. It is perfection. Rolex got nothing on that watch

I tend to consider clothing "broken in" long after most people would consider it rags, so I'm not a great judge. I once had a nice old lady at the post office give me directions to the soup kitchen...
