Thats a nice collection you've got there. I'm definitely leaning towards the Shogun D. I normally really struggle making purchases on anything of considerable price for myself. But I'm getting quite an impulsive feeling for this one. Especially at the price I've found it for.
Of the ones you've mentioned I have definitely taken a liking to the Super Sea wolf 53 (with the steel bezzle. & I am a fan of the Hamilton Khaki Navy Scuba as well.
I do understand what you mean. I think on some it works, such as the SBGH289G (Divers watch) but I do feel like it ever so slightly detracts from a few of their beautiful faces.
The good thing with GS is they seem open to criticism & actually take it onboard. I know on some of their newer modles with Spring drives they are now putting the power indicator on the rear of the case.
The very same Seiko that broke the Swiss watch making industry by creating far more accurate watch movements? I'm constantly left baffled by the distain towards Seiko & Asian watches on the whole.
Grand Seiko's movements are arguably some of the bests on the market that don't cost stupid money. The mechanical 9S is a thing of beaty. The 9R spring drive is one of the few real game changers in watches that offers incredible accuracy, exceptional power reserve & a super smooth second hand. The 9F is just looked down upon because its quartz & there is a negative connotation with quartz being cheap. But the 9F is something completely different.
& the beauty of all of that is it doesn't have super long waiting times, the designs aren't generic, they aren't super expensive & to top it off some of those movements are starting to make their way down to regular Seiko's. Thus further increasing the ability for regular buyers to experience truly great movements.
