Best “First Date” Watch - go!

You’re heading out to first meet-up with someone you’re very keen on - you should wear a watch that sends the right signal - not too much tho, or not too little.

Something just right.

Or does it depend on whether you want to pay for dinner or not?

Hublot…cause she’s not going to be able to pronounce it so you say “U-Blow”. Good night everyone and you can thank me later.

Understated beauty, and by the way she is not gonna notice anyway

Unless the person you're on a date with is a watch person, you could wear almost anything and, honestly, they're not going to care a jot. I think the only thing that would really get noticed is a super large watch or a super blingy watch, simply because it would stand out enough as an object, not a watch. But assuming you have taste, that won't be a problem. So wear whatever makes you feel good / gives you confidence.

·

I think that these details do not go unnoticed. Yes they may not know the exact brand or model, but I wouldn’t dismiss it completely.

Keep it classy and in line with whatever activity you’re doing or place you’re going.

·

Yeah, @complication has it spot on. My now wife would not have noticed any watch I wore on our first date unless it was 50mm and covered in diamonds (or something as similarly in-your-face).

·

I'd wear my £10 Casio. If she came back for a second date after seeing that crap, she ain't no gold digger. 😀

Yup, just so. Unless it gets noticed for all the wrong reasons, it's otherwise going to fly under the radar as, "He's wearing a watch... great... what are we having for dinner?" I know this is super hard for some watch people to accept; they think that what's on their wrist is really important and even if people say they don't notice, surely they do... deep down? LOL. Nope. The normies couldn't care less about watches, period.

Chanel J12 GMT.

Women know this brand. 99% chance she likes Chanel bags. It’ll start a good conversation about watches (and then bags)

GMT because you can date women in different countries. OR all at the same time.😂

It doesnt really matter unless she is into watches.... my gf then casually ignored a breitling or iwc or whatever i wore. . But now as a wife, she does care what i wear and wouldnt want anything to do with my trusty (but beat up) old seiko, casio or timex...

The only logical answer. Don’t fight me on this.

Richard Mille RM-69 Erotic Tourbillon

·

Longines Spirit 37mm. A name a non-watch person might connote with quality without also thinking excessive wealth. A tasteful design that can be dressed up or down with ease. A perfect mix of finishing that is impressive but only if you take a minute to look closely (not flashy and excessive). A fairly diminutive wrist presence that hopefully doesn't make them think you're likely making up for some other inadequacy.

Wear whatever watch you want and have a great time!

If your a watch fanatic you’ll end up talking about it and probably ( if they’re not into watches) boring the pants of em anyway at some point 😂

·

Wear a watch that gives you confidence and reflects who you are.

I've been out of the game for a while now, but if I were to go on a date now, I'd probably wear this simple yet elegant Mathey-Tissot:

Also, be sure to wear something that you can lose. Sometimes these "dates" end up with you getting slipped a mickey and you wake up in a strange hotel and all of your stuff is missing, including your date. Just kidding. OR AM I

·

If I ever go on a date again (which is a tossup), I’ll probably choose the watch that coordinates best with my outfit. I already do that anyway, though.

·

I think that the best watch to wear would be whichever one makes you feel the most confident while wearing it. Secondly, I would wear my so called "lucky" watch, if one were to exist (note: I do not have a lucky watch).

Wore my Seamaster 300 on my first date with my better half, I was a little nervous & managed to break off the crown 😭.....had to go back to Omega ,I had a service at the same time & cost me £490 (+ around £60 for the curry 🤣)

But she's my proper soulmate and recently bought me one of my Grail watches, the Green Willard. 💘

What are you, a nervous winder?!

·

What are you, a nervous winder?!

Guess I must be 🤣

·
skyblue

Lol, OR you can wear this instead to catch her attention, and when she asks you about the eye-catching watch that you're wearing, lean in and whisper what specific model of the MoonSwatch this is...😁

Mission to Your…A 🤣

Mission to Your…A 🤣

Yes, although he should always preface that with "this is my mission to...." 🤣

That should get him a second date!

Stay classy San Diego 😭

Wear the watch that has the most personal connection to you. Something that's meaningful to your past. It'll start a great conversation..

·

This especially if your into cougars… roar

She asks why you’re wearing that watch and you can tell her - you like your watches like you like your women - beautiful, well proportioned, and on time …

As a married man of 17 years … and owner of one mechanical watch and one sports watch, my “choices” are limited. Actually I could borrow my wife’s late grandfathers Omega Seamaster … a steel case to my Rolex’s gold… so yeah - event and outfit dependent, and wife’s opinion too (of course).

Black dial works on a first date … well played.

I usually wear my Nomos. Very nice and goes well with my overall style, but not too flashy. Then I can spend the date figuring out how to overcome my trash personality instead of worrying about my wrist 😉

·

If it's a hot date you're talking about, she'll only care if the watch compliments your atire. Not what brand or kind of watch you're wearing.

·

It needs to make sense with the outfit and where you're going. It's no different from any other piece of jewelry or clothing. The worst watch to wear on a date is the one that draws too much attention to itself, and away from you, your date, and the occasion. You're there together in the moment. The watch should be a non-factor.

Fair enough but if you’re right then this whole thread is ill conceived - so I’ll go ahead and disregard 😏
