We’ve all been here right?

I've never told myself no more $1K watches, I said "nothing more than $3K", and have stuck with it. 😉

There is so much variety and value around the $1K mark, that for "average" income earners I think it is the sweet spot. 

That is a beautiful watch, and I can see how it would lure with its siren song.

Oh yeah.  It took me 5 or 6 times of breaking this specific promise to myself before I just stopped making it.

As long as I don't ban myself outright, I find that I can stretch my purchases quite far in between.

Of course, this increases the chance I do something really really stupid....I have a white gold saxonia on the mind which I'm having trouble shaking.  So 20x your mistake 😉

I try to hold out for costlier pieces these days as I’m running out of room, but a couple times a year a watch like this catches my eye. 

I say that knowing W&W in NYC in October will be filled with great inexpensive watches.  :-)

No, I haven't been there. Where I'm at: I currently have 5 watches in my shopping cart on Ali, totalling just above £500 (and will be just below on Monday when their sale starts).

Yup, I also have a watch in the cart at Ali. But also a set of hands, as I was just cheaper to order case and movement together in the form of a watch. The dial I will order somewhere else. 

But on the actual topic: No, I have not spend $1000 on a watch yet. I once came close, but so far all of my watches are more or less in the budget category.

Very true, I could and I’m sure I have at least a couple in the box I could give away, but darn it I like them all.

They are Japanese AD and carry some JDM exclusives.  This is my fist purchase with them as most of my purchases are either AD or direct with the brand, but by all accounts they are supposed to be one of the best for Seikos and GS.
