Love both, but despite Dornbluth being a better watch in terms of finish, movement, and overall artistry (as a whole . . . I mean it’s a fully handmade situation), I just prefer the dials of AnOrdain.

·

Definitely AnOrdain for me...

·

AnOrdain definitely gets my vote. I'll give 2 reasons. 1. Unlike D. Dornbluth & Sohn you don't have to request for a price. 2. I am happily on a waiting list for an AnOrdain.

·

AnOrdain for the looks.

·

Dornbluth make incredible watches, they hold amazingly well underneath a loupe but it’s all about how it looks for me. The dial just doesn’t appeal as much as an AnOrdain (not much does). Now hurry up and make the Model 1 Fumé in a 35mm case and take my money!

·

AnOrdain. Those enamel dials

·

Dornblüth!!

Anordain is more accessible but dornbluth gives a better overall package.

·

#anordain wins, I mean come on, their dials are amazing

Just be happy to get on the waiting list 😅 2027 here I come!

·

Anordain for me too...late to join the party... hope I will get mine before 2029 :(

My build slot finally came up this year but I’ve had to defer until the case size I want comes up….

·

Going to probably going against the grain here, but D. Dornblüth & Sohn makes some very well built, if more classically designed watches.

·

Not even close in my opinion D B and sohne are several tiers higher in watch making IMO

·

Come on, these disputes are getting harder each day.

This is a tie. Move both to next round.

This does feel again like apples v. oranges. Dornblüth makes some incredible works of art movements while anOrdain makes works of art dials. It's hard to put one before the other. My vote goes to #anordain though, I know this may be a bit nitpicky (in this matchup that's all that is left) but I do not like the idea of customization. To me a watch company should make specific designs and offer them up for sale. The whole "build it the way you want" idea seems to be a cop out on feeling confident in your in-house design team. I know that I am being hyperbolous, but it is how I feel. At some level I want a watch company to say "This is exactly what we think a watch should be!"

This tournament can be apples to hamburgers at times. All perspectives are fair.

I do enjoy that people still refuse to see/accept that some people value different things.

Because the contest isn't "who makes the watches with the most craftsmanship and highest quality movements", and is more "which brand do you prefer", there is zero reason to assume everybody, or even a majority would prefer D&S. D&S makes very nice watches, but they hold zero appeal for me.

AnOrdain makes watches I like the look of, so I voted that way.

I agree, nice as anOrdain is, it's not in the same league as Dornblüth. But they're also not even remotely in the same price range, so it's not really a fair comparison. I don't really think you can call Dornblüth a microbrand, but here it is, and they're up against each other, so Dornblüth gets the vote. I don't see how anOrdain can win, never mind run away with the vote as they are now, except name recognition seems to be the name of the game.

I don’t think there’s any doubt that Dornbluth make a nicer finished watch (and yes, there are definitely people going on name recognition) but the heart wants what the heart wants - I daresay there are plenty of people who take Rolex over a [insert high horology brand here]. Hopefully, this tourney will encourage people to see a watch picture, read some comments, wonder what all the fuss is about and delve a little deeper into the brand.

As long as the hamburgers can be from In n Out 😂

If you are buying, I’m driving.

·

Dornblueth & Sohn is criminally under-rated.

Between these specific two, me too...🤔🤨😄??

TBH, I have no frame of reference, out side of classic styled watches. I don't even know if there is any sort of lume on the dials, but I'm not even close to any sort of expert on these brands.

But based off looking at the sites, and if you had the proverbial firearm to forehead, I'd go AnOrdain. Enamel dials are cool.

Even if I might not have one myself, I'm not opposed to the idea.

·

Gosh this is one of the most difficult ones. Both are great, but it's fully dependent on what you value

In light of this I think I have to go with Anordain. I'll still buy a dornbluth someday

Yeah, I'm not super into either brand's style, but between them AnOrdain wins for me.

I'd take Damasko, CW, or Marathon over either...

·

I wouldn't call myself a fanboy, but I like the charm of Dornblüth & Sohn simply special.
