There is definitely something to be said for letting go of a watch that no longer brings you joy and having cash in hand. I’ve only done it once and don’t regret it. A couple of others (worth far less) I gave away and still felt good about it.
That’s a great story and a sharp watch! People who can afford to live anywhere often choose Switzerland for multiple reasons. I’m sure Kimi wouldn’t mind if you introduced yourself and told him that you’re a fan, as long as you keep it brief.
I applaud your honesty at the end, as I was ready to give you credit for an amusing speech script. Still, it was entertaining.
