One time change too many

Recently I posted about giving away one of my two beaters to a fellow who had no watch (hard to imagine, I know). Then, while attempting to conduct the semi-annual and long-obsolete time change on the remaining beater, the crown broke off. (The second crown had been ripped out a few years ago while helping a friend move.) This trusty Timex was manufactured 26 years ago this month in the Philippines, so that’s not bad service for a $100 Timex put to hard use.

Since I need a way to time customer work when my phone isn’t convenient to carry and my three remaining watches don’t have stopwatch capability or rotating bezel, perhaps it’s time to enter the exotic and mysterious world of G-Shock.

Go for it. Just bought my first G Shock, still awaiting delivery. Amazing spec for the price.

Can't it be repaired?

Timex didn’t design their quartz watches to be repaired, so as far as I know they don’t make parts available for their many different models over the years. In this case, the crown has broken away from the stem, so I’ll have a look at it but am not expecting to be repairable.

Might be a candidate for a discount on a new Timex via the rewound program?\

Thanks for that, it was news to me. Good idea and good marketing. Even better, they accept any make of watch! Unfortunately it only applies to the USA and I live in the Dominion of Canada.

Sorry about that... did not realize the limited scope of the program. I did not research it fully. Maybe they will expand it!?
