Fossil watches? It’s okay to wear them!

Ever since I joined the watch the community and began to learn more about watches, I also learned about the “do not buy” categories of watches. Under this caregory, Fossil will constantly be named. However, I believe that even if they are a fashion watch, quartz, and cheaper than the most reputable brands — if it works, and last more than 5 years or even 10, I consider it a decent purchase. At the end of the day, it is up to you to enjoy, like, and wear whatever you like. Also, many folks do not have 500 or 1000 dollars laying around, and that means that it is okay to purchase the budget watch: if it gives you the time and it looks good, then you are good.

Absolutely right. I’m often attracted to them because of interesting dials. If I want a quartz watch, Fossil is likely my first browse.

Enjoy it!

I love my Defender! It's a great field watch.

A lot of people don’t know that fossil dabbled in making “Swiss made” watches a few years back featuring their very own STP movements. They’re rare now but you can see a few pop up on eBay from time to time.

In 09 had 2 fosil and my experience put me off watches for a long time Only recently got back into watches e since I needed one with timer.

I've had a few Fossil watches, pretty decent quality for the price. Always unique in style. Enjoyed wearing them. As I started collecting watches I turned my eye to more high quality brands, especially with automatic movements. I admit that I was bitten by the snobbery bug and started to look down on brand watches for some time. But now I enjoy a watch for what it isd.

There are exceptions of course, I really loathe brands that tries to sell watches with image only but with low quality. Or "micro brands" that "cut out the middle man" and sell crap. The spaghetti scametti types.

I was already a pretty mature bachelor by the time that I met and fell in love with the dazzling younger woman who in a moment of madness agreed to marry me. She was a bit concerned about my parenting abilities, lessons that I might be able to pass along to our daughters since old single guys live a certain lifestyle. My older daughter was hooked on fashion brand watches including some fun Fosill watches, oddly was teased about even wearing a watch when some homeless guys carry mobile phones these days. A few years ago, we sat down for a chat, I said that in life you can only be truly responsible for your personal choices and path, what others think about you is just noise. If Fosill watches make you happy, be happy!

Fossil is the number one brand I get for repair. Same story on each one. “My wife bought this for me X years ago”. The one I just finished is 22 years old. Just needed a battery, cleaning and 1 of the indices reattached to the dial.

I’d say they’re built reasonably well for the price.

That particular one is pretty cool actually. Maybe you just have a good eye.

Hey ignore the watch snobs n video watch influencers………… beauty is in the eye of the beholder so if you like it buy it regardless of brand or elves inside and wear it because you like it!

Nice watch btw

My first collection (and subsequent watch sale) was all Fossil Watches... If not for the opportunity to collect those and enjoy them, I would not be as deeply into watches. The one you are showing is absolutely stunning field watch! Don't sweat the details, if you like it, wear it, if the watch has a story wear it even more.

Fossil owns Zodiac and has been legitimately invested in making great products. Definitely not a Daniel Wellington.

·

I've seen quite a few Fossil watches on the WRUW since I've joined WatchCrunch. If you like it, rock it! Some of my most inexpensive watches are the ones that give me the most enjoyment.

·

I have had this one for 25+ years, been a tank.

This one is 50mm on my 7.5 inch wrist and it's my favorite.

Fossil and their ilk have their place for sure. They are accessible and often have interesting dials. It's also the sort of brand that is, beyond Seiko and Casio, people's first watch when they are younger. I'd rather see a Fossil on someone's wrist than simply default to a smart watch.

·

Spot on🎯. The most important - and expensive😕- lesson I've ever learned as a watch-lover.👍

There is nothing wrong with wearing a Fossil. A lot of them have a Swiss Ronda movement in them. The same movement put in the more expensive watches. Cheap or expensive, if you like how it looks, wear it.
