Longines

Hi People

Longines have become more appealing as a brand over the last few years and figure in my mind when thinking about buying a good quality daily wearer. I have recently bought the spirit 40mm and am eying up the new high beat ultra-chron. What do you think about Longines?

I am of the same opinion it is a brand that I have been eyeing up more and more, I really like the Longines Avigation Bigeye Collection Blue Dial but at the moment my funds are having to focus on other things in my life so I am thinking if I get a new addition to my collection it will be from the Longines family and it will be the Conquest

That's a great choice. Glad you agree with my general sentiment about the brand.

Longines is definitely on my radar and is probably the brand I will purchase when I finally decide to move up tier from entry and budget watches. I am either looking at a 41mm Hydroconquest or a 39mm Conquest. I am seriously thinking of getting one this fall.

I really like the brand. Their heritage line has a lot of very appealing watches. The Sector dials, Marine Nationale and Big Eye just to name a few. And their more modern Spirit line is also very good and high quality looking.

The Flagship Heritage is next on my list after I finish my exams this semester so I'm really looking forward to that.

Hydroconquest is excellent value and you will get a top notch watch for your money.

That will be a great gift to yourself.  Very classy and elegant choice.

I like the new ultra chron alors the spirit.

Ultra chron is on my radar.

With the Steel strap looks beautiful

At the moment I think they are very hard to beat. A brand with a rich history but not resting on their laurels. Reissuing historic time pieces with modern components which are executed to a high standard at very competitive prices.  The little touches also help having recently purchased the zulu time the standard of the presentation box and the inclusion of a hard cover book impressed me further.  The deployment clasp on the leather strap that could be adjusted on the fly, displayed to me that thought and trial had gone into this project.

Easily my favourite brand at the moment. I share all the sentiments expressed above.

·

I just checked out the new Zulu Time GMT at the local AD. It's a really nice piece, and with the deal being offered, I'm really tempted. As with many other models from Longines, the lugs are a bit on the long side, which is the main problem for me personally. I was really impressed with the micro adjustment provided by the deployant clasp, but disappointed that the bracelet didn't offer a similar on the fly tool-less option.

·

When they started marketing watches that will sell in North America they took off again. The small seconds and blued hands won't sell here well. They always made fine watches.

Agree with the forum on the value, beauty, and history of Longine. For any romantics out there, the Panomatic Lunar is really special. I bought one last month.

Agreed

Longines can be wonderful watches.  They definitely punch above their weight in the value for dollar segment.  My wife got me this one for our engagement, and it recently came back from service:

Are you sure they're "more" appealing? I've considered Longines a worthy addition to anyone's collection for decades. Even more so these days.

·

For me, Longines always felt undervalued because their strong suit was dressy watches (Master and what not). Glad they finally got some appealing sports watches too, I feel like now they're Swatch's answer to Tudor.

I think @nytime is on the money.

Love em! Here are a few that passed through my collection

I agree on the value for money argument. Acquired the BigEye last November which aside from the looks also came with all the bells and whistles -- column wheel, vertical clutch, hacking, handwinding, antimagnetic, power reserve, etc. All of which you would have to pay a ton of money for other brands. Just wished they would have slapped in a see-thru case back to show the decently finished movement. 😊

If I did not have a GMT watch already. I would buy this one (in black or anthracite) in a second. Longines has been on the radar for the last five years.

·

I currently have four Longines in my collection and I’m strongly tempted to add some more.

·

I'll let the pictures of my Spirit do the talking:

Excellent value from a long standing brand with true heritage. I really like the Spirit and that they are trying new things. Some of my current favorites from them are their heritage pieces though. I also like the black Conquest as an Explorer alternative. They make so many attractive watches that it’s difficult to choose which one to get. I have the Legend Diver but am still considering the Conquest or the Silver Sector Dial.
