Out of the entire Rolex collection, I have had my eyes for 2 classic midsize time-only models Explorer 36 and OP36 as my first Rolex for my boney wrist to celebrate turning 40 and a new job this year.
Earlier this year, I made the tough decision of turning down the OP36 in black (wanted classic blue for a colour dial) due to the fact that I just got a Tudor BB54 and also intended on eventually & miraculously adding the Explorer to my collection.
I have been mentally preparing for missing the milestone year with no Rolex and BOOM, on my Thanksgiving dayoff, I got the AD call that THIS TIME, that steel Rolex Explorer 124270 in the display window is MINE!
Happy Thanksgiving all!

I would say 16cm. Very slim wrist. ๐

Trust me. I was in daze for a few days after second guessing my decision but luckily my SA was very supportive saying I should stick to it and wait for Explorer 36 and OP36 classic blue (just didnโt want all black dials). Obviously she came through ๐ฅฐ
Congrats! Real happy for you!
I'm on the verge of deciding to sell 80 to 90% of my watches, get on a mission to get an Explorer, then call it quits!
From another fellow canuck, sell some, keep a few key pieces and get the Explorer. ๐จ๐ฆ๐๐
Mazel tov on the exp36! You deff made the right choice. My favorite OP36 is the silver dial, that's the one I'd get.
I am still on the list for OP36 in classic blue as well. ๐
Great watch, Iโm still on the fence if Iโd want to look to get one. Admittedly was great on the wrist when I tried one in.
Looking great on you.
For me, I like the classic and understated/under the radar elements. My next is OP36
You know, Iโm on the list for a mint green DJ and was chatting to my AD at the weekend, Iโm 2 from the top so could get the call any time, I asked about others and the Explorer had one of the longest list. Think is because on the nonsense over the last few years the cost has spiralled however at AD price itโs a cracking tool watch, obviously there are lower cost options but the more I wear my DJ the less Iโm wearing the others, perhaps just a phase and I guess the test will be when I get a couple of others on my list!
Luckily for me, the Rolex buyers in Vietnam mostly like gold/diamond Rolexes, so steel midsizes are a bit easier to come by. My SA told me.
Wow. U r lucky.
I had a 8 months wait
