I like it so I put a watch on it 💍
Ever since my partner @saddlepoint and I got engaged, I have been wanting to get him an engagement watch as well. You may have since seen his posts crowdsourcing opinions here on how to secure one’s holy grail, or what alternative to get. We have also debated whether I should get him a Casiotron (he didn’t like it to be THE engagement watch so he got it himself 🤪) or the Hamilton Murph (I liked it as well so it might end up becoming a shared watch and not THE engagement watch). To manage the guilt from having something luxury, albeit entry, he even suggested that I also get a hers version of his holy grail. I am personally enamored by the idea of thermoregulation in a watch like the Grand Seiko’s 9F movement. A chemical engineer myself, I marvel at the idea of thermal correction to fix drifts in many things, but no, I am not at the level of spending so much on a watch (not yet, or maybe not ever).
After much hemming and hawing, the AD called back this week to say that their SBGX something something has restocked… @saddlepoint dreaded the moment to finally decide on whether to get it or pass up this opportunity… so I decided for him and got this today. 😌😌😌😌😌
He LOVES the watch so much, but he’ll probably take a few more days (or months?) before he comes around and feels less guilty from owning his first ever non-casio/gshock/field watch 😁

Don't have the SBGX261...but it's on the short list for my next watch. Grand Seiko specs most 9F movements at +/- 10 seconds a year, and a few special releases at +/- 5 seconds per year. But I predict you'll get better than spec, the 9F86 GMT in my SBGN003 runs about +1 second per year.
