Hello everybody!

I just joined the community and want to say hello to everyone!

I have been collecting watches for more than 20 years. Most of the watches I bought in the past are inexpensive, and none cost me more than C$200 each. As my finance has improved at this stage of my life, I have recently expanded my watch collection into more luxury brands, particularly mechanical watches.

In the past, I purchased watches just based on their styles. But since I am now purchasing more expensive timepieces, I have spent more time in learning how different types of watch movements work and the history of brands and some of their iconic models. The learning experience has been fantastic! There are so many things to know! Although I have been collecting watches for more than 2 decades, I was just attracted by the watch styles in the past and did not understand anything technical about watches. For example, I cannot tell even a single watch movement reference. So, I consider myself still a newbie for this hobby.

I am looking forward to learn more from other more experienced watch collectors!

Thank you all for the welcome!

These are my current collection. I bought quite a few budget-friendly watches over the years, but only 6 remain today. The two Cartier Tank are my first luxury watches. I bought the pair two years ago to celebrate our 25th anniversary. I tend to love dress watches more, and the IWC Mark XX is the first casual watch I bought, as I have always wanted to have a pilot watch. The JLC Reverso is the last one I bought, just 2 weeks ago. I really love this watch. Before I visited the JLC boutique, judging by the pictures I saw, I was attracted to this watch by the blue dial but was not a big fan of the reverse silver dial. However, when I saw this watch in person, my perspective totally changed. I now actually love the silver dial even more than the blue dial. I feel the silver dial is a bit feminine, but it is still acceptable. This is the one I love the most at the moment. I plan to add one watch to my collection each year. Will be happy to share pictures of any new additions with the community along the way. The watch I plan to buy next is Patek's Calatrava 6119R, but that is a plan for next year. I told myself that I must stick with the timeline I set for myself and resist the urge to spend too much in a single year no matter how much I want the watch! 😎

Welcome, Vincent. Good to see another Canadian on here. Don’t pressure yourself to buy a watch every year. It has to feel right. If it takes two, three or four years, so be it.

Welcome. Let’s see those watches

Hi Adrian, Glad to be greeted by another Canadian here!

Yes, my next planned purchase is a very expensive watch! My plan is to not buy more than one watch per year just to prevent me from spending too much. But hey, I may not be able to save up enough money for the Calatrava in a single year. So, have to be flexible, and the actual purchase plan will depend on the finances at the time.
