Seiko Alpinist Ginza

Alpinist Ginza has to be one of the best Seiko releases ever! The way that dial and the hands play with the light is on a Grand Seiko level. The case shape is also reminiscent of some Grand Seiko models, so it sits very comfortably on the wrist. The 6R35 movement inside is sturdy and keeps a great time. The only bad thing about this watch is the bracelet (unfortunately, also reminiscent of some Grand Seiko), which is by far the worst I have seen on 1000$ range watch. It feels cheap, the buckle is too thick and there is spacing between the bracelet and the lugs. That's why the first thing we did was put it on a leather strap, and we think it looks stunning on the reversed leather because the dial and hands stand out even more!

Knowing that this model has somewhat of a cult following, what are your thoughts on in? Since it's double or even triple the retail price on the secondary market, would you be willing to pay a premium for it and if yes, how much over retail?

I think it's gorgeous!! I want one.

Love it!

Yeah it’s nice, took awhile for me to warm up to it and lost an opportunity to buy it when it first came out, I’m thinking of adding it to my collection for the right price 😂😉

Wow!!!

·

Jeez, this is pretty. Good ad for the straps as well! I will defiantly be checking out your site in the future.

·

It absolutely is stunning. would have bought it on the spot when it came out but I didn’t know of it. but I also wouldn’t pay 1700-2000€ for it

I've got the SBDC159 "Deep Lake" version of this watch and absolutely adore it.  Do you guys happen to have a shot of that watch on the same strap you're showing above?  Seems like it would be a good match as well, and to your point: the bracelet is the weakest link (pun slightly intended).

Unfortunately we don't have any photos of that watch, but I think those straps would also look amazing on it! 😉

This is a winner! Just when you don't think there's a watch you need. Seiko Alpinist's are one of the best all around watch's for every scenario. This one is Wicked Cool!....  I never pay retail, however this one might push me in that direction and even over.

If you have a chance to get it new from a retailer, do it! 😄

Seiko do some of the best and nicest faces on the planet.

·

I’ve seen this piece in person and I have to say, this is arguably one of Seiko’s best dials! Stunning!

·

it's a GS dial that somehow made its way onto a 3500 limited edition prospex watch for under 1K USD. it was a mistake on seikos behalf but a awesome mistake for the consumer 👍

·

I would buy that watch if the hands were frozen at 10:10 and it had NO MOVEMENT AT ALL.

I haven't seen it in person, but just going from its photos, this is not only the most beautiful dial I've ever seen, it might be the most beautiful man-made THING I've ever seen.
