Good old days and female watch models :)

Going to the office this week I was reminiscing about the good old days. I was a young professional and could not afford a more serious watch than a Casio which was similar to the one on the pics. Colleagues were already wearing their automatic mechanical watches and looking down on me. I couldn't care less, I was at the same time humble, and careless with it, considering it part of my stle and attitude. Bought it myself, considered it a daily beater. I cared that my girlfriend liked it and sometimes borrowed it for its slim profile and simplicity. I cared that my female colleagues were digging my style. Treating my very legible and accurate Casio as a regulator watch when correcting their manual wind watches. I was proud of that addition to the Monday morning coffee sipping. My colleagues with their large "stopped over the weekend, forgot to set this morning" auto's were ignored... That is what mattered to me back then. So this week, going to my Rolex and IWC dominated office, I proudly wore my Casio A700WEM-7AEF surprising quite a few of my colleagues. Towards the end of the day, a female colleague stopped by my desk and said: "cool vintage Casio, you do now that is a ladies watch?" I was LMAO, and finally realized what was the appeal to ladies back in the day !

What is/was your go to "regulator" ?

You know, I have the exact same model, and if it is a ladies watch, I must have several more in my collection, including these two digital favorites that are similar in size if a bit thicker.

Ladies watch?  Well, the last time I went into the office (which is pretty rare these days), I noticed one of my young female co-workers wearing a Gold Casio digital watch.  It looked good on her.

I didn't ask her about the watch but I did ask another co-worker about his vintage quartz Seamaster. Lots of people wearing interesting watches at work these days (maybe the Pandemic really DID grow the hobby).

Same here. Suddenly people notice, talk about it, know ref numbers and stuff... and me... well happy times :) :)

Must be true as my wife is currently wearing my vintage Casio

Yes, I am a fan of Armitron, and like their retro digital watches. I have several including this Rubik.

Wanted to add my female watch 😂

LOL, women don’t care what you wear, they care that you have confidence on it. So maybe they all thought you were wearing a lady’s watch, but they thought it was cool because you did. We have an amazing ability to influence others just by believing things ourselves.

So go ahead and rock that girl’s watch, it looks great.

Yeah those vintage Casios were a huge p*ssy magnet for me back in the day! 😎 But it’s cool, glad you kept it, and didn’t compket debase yourself by buyino an Armatron

Still enjoy my casio´s

·

I love this one! Gifted it to my mom and shes enjoying it, but she lost it!

My current favorite lady's watch.  I was close to buying it in the spring, but other things got in the way.  I have a feeling there will always be something else I buy first, but I'd wear this one, tiny and girly colored though it may be.

Checking in as another dude with an A700! It's so sleek and light. I usually sport much chunkier, heavier pieces than this so I feel like I've got practically nothing at all on my wrist when I wear it. It's an awesome and super affordable casual watch.

Also, I'm a firm believer that watches are non-gendered. It's all just marketing at the end of the day.

Warren G is my go-to...

I think as long as you like the looks and feel of the watch, just wear it. There's no such thing as women's or men's watch, A watch is a watch. I see a lotta ladies wearing bulky G-shocks and men wearing tiny dress watches and they couldn't care less. LOL

It looks good on you with the suit and its super retro. I like it a lot.

Sounds like you your office is filled with douchebags 🤨 And that's not a ladies watch either...

Here is my ladies watch/regulator:

I wish more people in my office were into watches; everyone just wears an Apple Watch.

Yeah me too. Lots of Apple Watches in my office too.

I love Casio Vintage Watches. They are the expression of simplicity, reliability and convenience. Casio democratised good quality watches for everyone and became iconic.

Who’s to say what’s a ladies vs a gents watch? Casio doesn’t “sex” the A700 on their site. I think this, and many other vintage Casios are unisex.

I wore mine to the office this week and was complimented on my “cool 80s watch” I love that people notice this kind of thing.

Even if it was a ladies watch, I’d still wear mine. 😊

·

I love the A700. My all day watch.

·

I wore a man's watch, but my girlfriend really liked it. In fact, she liked it so much she ended up marrying it. What could I say? It always has time for her.

·

I really like this watch and considering to buy it, but will it look good on a chunky wrist??
