One more spot / What's next?

So I added a couple new watches over the holidays, sold a few recently and am relatively happy with my affordable collection (for now). What should I get to fill the last spot? Budget is up to $1000.

SOTC:

Vaer A5 / Baltic HM002 / Hamilton Khaki Field / Seiko Sub Mod / Brew Retrograph / Jupiter Moonswatch / G-shock

First off, that’s a really interesting collection. I’m sort of at a loss as to what you should get. I guess a dress watch, but the Baltic would work for that. And I assume if you had much need of a dress watch you’d already have one. So maybe not. You’ve stumped me.

Nice collection! Solid options up to an$1K price point. You can grab a Longines Conquest, Mido Ocean Star, Or even shop around and see if you can snag a deal on a Oris Aquis Date or Tag Heuer F1.

No, man!  You gotta get rid of the watch box!  To crib from Seinfeld, the watchbox is either

  • Like a pair of boxer shorts - too much room, egging you on to always buy more!
  • Like a pair of tighty whities - too constricting, and bad for your boys!

Look at how happy Kramer is once he goes without!  There are no longer any limits!  He's free!!!

A Swatch Group Diver?

Like what? I'm also thinking a diver might be good.

Nice suggestions. That new Hodinkee/Mido Ocean Star looks awesome, and I love Oris too. Thinking some diver might be the move.

You seem to have all the bases covered. Maybe a fully digital one. G-Shock are a good bet for that or I can recommend this one from Yema

I would like to suggest the Tissot PRX because its distinct shape and integrated bracelet can complement your collection.

Since you’ve gone down the micro rabbit hole;

  • Used Farer
  • Lorier
  • Jack Mason GMT
  • Autodromo
  • Might be able to pick up a used Weiss
  • Or…say screw it and get an Alpinist

You mentioned 3 that I've thought seriously about:

-Farer Stanhope

-Lorier (Gemini or Falcon)

-Baby Alpinist

Hmmmm.

I would add a Tissot PRX as another friend said, or I would add a Seiko GMT. This GMT is definitely my next one.

Some interesting suggestions for you in a range from $500 - $1,000...

I'm thinking you need some pops of color...and maybe some different shapes...

Easy... Farer.      They have taken my top spot for watches under $1k

So nice... really like this and the stanhope

·

Love the Sun/Snowflake mod.

Shadowsteel

How's the Depancel? I've been looking at getting one but I haven't seen much about it in terms of reviews and such

The Depancel Pista 24 is great - really well made and looks fantastic. I also picked up a second one, the Auto RS, during the Christmas sale...

One other Farer Stanhope alternative suggestion:  the Bremoir Lexington.  Just under your $1K limit.

Do you find yourself wearing it a lot? I really like how it looks.

Yes it's one of about 6 watches in my collection I wear the most, very nicely designed & proportioned & great value in my opinion!

I really like this one, just wondering if it will wear a little on the large side.

@ChronoGuy , I love your collection!  Each watch gives off a different vibe.  You've got almost two weeks of wrist rotation just in the pictures you sent!

Thanks for the kind words!

Yes - I have been at this for too long 😉

Love this collection. Got my dad a Vaer D4. Love the Brew. Have a Hamilton myself. The Baltic looks awesome. And that strap on the MoonSwatch makes it look cooler than any I’ve seen. AND the watch case itself is cool. Longines was my first jump into premium, and I like the idea of adding a conquest to that. Great stuff.

·

Great collection! But it definitely needs a steel 12hr bezel. I recommend the Nodus Contrail with a steel 12 hr bezel. nodus is going be releasing there version 3 soon.https://wornandwound.com/nodus-debuts-the-contrail-ii-featuring-several-small-improvements-that-have-a-big-impact/
