Double Wristing

If one goes along with the presumption: watches are jewelry and unnecessary in a world where most people have accurate time via a mobile device โ€“ double wristing is perfectly acceptable. Coincidentally, the last few times I was in an Omega boutique, a few salespeople had on a smartwatch and an analog watch. I used to double wrist only at work because my Apple Watch is more of an accessory to the iPhone. However, more recently I almost often wear my Apple Watch and an analog watch. Is this too pretentious?

Your thoughts?

It's only in your head (and technically on your wrists). If you're comfortable in your own skin wearing watches on both wrists, then go for it.

I say double-wristing is just not for me even with an apple watch, as I don't have a need to put my phone on my wrist all the time. I've also tried wearing a watch on my off-wrist just to see how that feels... and it felt awkward, like I was wearing a shirt on backwards or something ๐Ÿ˜‚ Maybe if I was rocking two of the same watch it would feel like I was wearing bracers or something - armor up!

Less is more.

2 watches and 4 bracelets is too many items of jewelry for my tastes.

My sister makes bracelets โ€“ so I have little choice in that department. However, I see your point.

I can't wear 2 of the same type of bracelets / straps at one time. If I have a bracelet on one watch, I switch to a strap on the other.

I never think of Apple/smart as a "watch", so I don't really think of it as double wristing in the same way that two watches are. But I get your point, it's jewellery so it shouldn't be a problem. I've been known to wear two but usually with a long sleeve shirt or jumper, so it's maybe not that obvious.

And with beads and material bracelets.

ยท

Iโ€™ve tried to do this several times. I donโ€™t really care either way about the look or appearance, or othersโ€™ perceptions per se.

I just think it feels odd and uncomfortable to me have two watched on.

But I say if itโ€™s comfortable and it makes you happy, go for it. You canโ€™t control others think. Sh*t, at this point, thereโ€™s probably people who think that wearing a mechanical watch instead of a smartwatch is pretentious.

ยท

Rock them both. I do the same, for fitness monitoring reasons.

ยท

Wrist watches can be jewellery, they can be functional tools, and they can be both at the same time. Pocket watches existed before wrist watches. If pocket watches were more convenient than wrist watches, wrist watches would never have been so popular.

That said, if you want to wear two watches as jewellery, have at 'er.

ยท

Youโ€™re presumption is wrong!

ยท

End of the day, no one cares. Do what makes you happy!

There are 4 bracelets!!

No, it is not too presumptuous.

Iโ€™ve done it on the same wrist before. Wear what you like and are comfortable. Most people donโ€™t notice or care. I sometimes need the availability of text alerts or updates on my watch in meetings and itโ€™s more respectful than flipping out my phone. A lot of this is for information being fed to me live when Iโ€™m in a meeting representing my company to another. Anyhow off topic there, but there are times I just wear an Apple Watch and times when it is analog only.

As long as the functions are diff Iโ€™m good. For me Iโ€™ve never worn a GShock and Apple Watch๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

I keep it simple. Back in the days if you wear two gold watches with bracelets and pinky rings you was the man! Pimp Daddy!

ยท

I wear a small fitness tracker on my right wrist and a normal watch on left. The fitness tracker is the mi band 7 and I have it set to no notifications and tap to turn on.

ยท

I don't think I can. I thought of the utility of it until it was called "double wristing". My uncontrollable mind transmogrifies that to "double fisting" and I put the second watch back in the box.

Sigh. My hang up, not yours. Even though Schwartzkopf and Buzz Aldrin do it, I can't.

ยท

I always wear 2....

I don't often double wrist, but when I do it's either practical or fantastical....๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿค˜๐Ÿป๐Ÿค™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป

No, I don't think so. I like a fitness tracker so I wear a small FitBit on my R wrist.

ยท

I wear an Apple Watch on my right wrist and a mechanical watch on my left wrist every day. I use the Apple Watch to track my movement, exercise and steps, which is kind of the same thing, but I also do fitness tracking when I go to the trainer or the gym. Itโ€™s especially useful when I need to set a quick timer or an alarm. I view my mechanical watch as more of an accessory or jewelry item. Itโ€™s very normal for me.

Me and my gay watch buddies always laugh about double wristing/double fisting. We laugh uncontrollably when the subject arises.

Agree. Not presumptuous at all.

as to the GShock and Apple Watch comboโ€ฆ I just bought my second GShock and yes, I wear an Apple Watch on my right wrist tooโ€ฆ and it felt wrong ๐Ÿ’ฏ

Except if Iโ€™m wearing a GShockโ€ฆ then the Apple Watch is a no no.

ยท

If this setup works for you, rock it. Nice Santos.

I'm in exactly the same boat as Paul @TheHoroSexual. I have my Garmin on my wright wrist and my mechanical on my left.

When i've been asked, I'll tell people that if I want the time I look left, if I want to know how many steps i've done, I look right.

Hey, you can lose a watch that way. That's what Invicta is for.

ยท

Double wristing is totally fine by me, but neurodivergence may have a part in that. I find two watch-type-things, be they both watches, one analog one smart, or one analog and one chunky bracelet, just feels nice to me. I get that a lot people are concerned about acruing scratches faster and for a more dressy piece or something higher end that makes sense. I canโ€™t argue that wearing two watches will statisticaly increase the rate of new scratches. For me and my money though, it just feels more balanced to have something on both wrists!

ยท

I double wrist with an Apple Watch when at home because the fitness tracking, timer functions, and notifications are too useful to forgo, but I also want to enjoy looking at my mechanical watch.

However, I don't double wrist in public because like it or not, some portion of the population thinks its weird and I don't like to draw attention to myself in that way. If I'm doing a hike or exercising I'll single-wrist the Apple Watch but otherwise I'll single wrist a mechanical watch.

Also, it's nice to not have your watch constantly pinging you with notifications when you're with other people.
