@theChilean I bought a quartz submariner look alike that was blue and gold when I was in high school. My ego went up leagues overnight. Then a hand fell off…☹️
Mine was also an Invicta Pro Diver. I got the scalloped bezel though. I think it was cheaper at the time....I also knew almost nothing about watches, so I likely wouldn't have even noticed a difference. That watch has taken a beating (worn daily while working in construction) and still runs great. The bezel is now beyond stiff, the crystal is marked up from seeing its share of sparks, and the bracelet is almost unwearable (now on a rubber strap or Nato), but I still wear it once and a while.

I gifted this to a young collector who was just starting out many years ago.
I gifted an Orient green dial diver to a friend that had only ever worn a quartz watch. His battery ran out one day but he kept wearing it. I showed up a week later and gave him his first automatic. He wears it every day.
A Seiko SNKL45. Ran dreadfully slow out of the box, tried to regulate it myself and now it’s way too fast. Still wore it daily for nearly 2 years. It looked awesome for $150.
I had a vintage Seamaster before I really got into watches (I'm surprised I even knew how to set it) but once the bug bit me, my first automatic was this janky Elgin that I got at a flea market for $30 bucks.
Eventually I grew out of it / it fell apart. It's a great example of why I always encourage people to experiment for cheap before they start spending big money on watches. Learn what you like, make mistakes!
I’m learning more and more about what I actually like versus what my dad liked or what I saw people wear that I looked up to. I wear a 2007 seamaster 300 probably 80% of the week. Absolutely love it.
My first and ONLY automatic watch to date. My other 14 watches are all quartz.
This is the Invicta Grand Diver Model 3044. 300M WR. NH35A Movement.
Right now, this watch is at the watchmaker's shop. I am having the bezel and the crystal replaced.
The lume dot on the top of the bezel wore off. Totally my fault; I used to wipe down my watch with lens cleaning wipes. The alcohol rubbed the lume off. Now I know better. I use a dry, plain, microfiber cloth nowadays.
And I figured while I was at it, I would replace the mineral crystal with the cyclops lens, with a sapphire crystal that doesn't have a cyclops. I think it will look a lot better. I love the way my Casio Duro doesn't have a cyclops, and I can read it just fine. I think this mod will give the Invicta the same kind of vibe.

That will look really good in my opinion. Any reason why you prefer quartz watches over mechanical/automatic?

I don't prefer one or the other; the ratio of automatics to quartz models in my collection is purely random chance. When I find a watch that I like, which is affordable, I buy it. Plain and simple. 🤣 But I do intend to purposefully buy more automatics in the future. 😀

My first automatic was my Seiko 5 SRPD 55. Still one of my favourites in my collection.
Zodiac Seawolf I bought in 1976 for 105.00 usd.
Still wear it.
Man, you guys are young!!
Ufff it was in 1999 and i sell it in 2022
My first automatic was an original Trident Pro. Kind of wish I had kept it.
SKX009 that I’ve since done some upgrades to. 2016, I think? Lots of drinking between 2015-2016 lol

I was born in ‘83. Wish I would’ve bought watches back then. That’s a BEAUTY!
'07 Orient Mako Gen I, still have my first Maratac Zulu Bond too 😂.
My mom bought me this quartz Fossil when I graduated high school.

My first automatic after wearing quartz or a Speedy...
Perhaps I should've discovered Seiko sooner.
This was mine and it led to modding.

Going to need to see photos of that one!

That’s a great blue! I’ve actually never heard of Cadisen.

I modded some on a Seiko. It’s fun and terrifying all at the same time 🤣🤣

Still have it, but don’t get much wrist time
This the bambino?

That’s a cool ass watch. What size is that?

Seiko Samurai. It's been modded recently.
This the bambino?
Yep, Champagne dial version 2 I believe.
After wearing a quartz for 21 years followed by an Apple Watch for 8 years:
It was turtle that hooked me in.
That’s a great blue! I’ve actually never heard of Cadisen.
They're a Chinese brand. You can find them Aliexpress. The blue is what drew me to it.
