Brew is such a cool option, though when I had this same impulse i bought a Bulova Lunar Pilot, the original size, about a year ago now. If you can pull off that big ass watch I think it looks great.
I would choose an entry level chronograph that wouldn't get displaced by a higher end mechanical chronograph (whatever your budget or collection goals may be). Basically a watch that has something else going for it other than just being a chronograph.
I've considered a Brew watch (not this model) before because it checks multiple boxes for me: 1) it is a meca-quartz which I don't have in my collection (I have a a secondary goal of collecting at least one of each movement type). 2) Brew is a respected micro-brand. 3) integrated bracelet. 4) wears well and looks different.
This is just an observation but I see Brew watches owned in $3k collections and $50k collections. I don't see as many sea-gull watches (more in entry-level collections). Just my opinion.
Beautiful retro racing design for just 370$ USD with a 39mm diameter for smaller wrists also. It is a quartz watch indeed and doesn't have a sapphire, but the design it's worth it.

#Seiko.
Or Seiko.
Or possibly Seiko. But... If I wanted to go a bit more vintage...
... It'd probably be Seiko? I dunno.
🤣🤣🤣
If you want a mechanical chronograph, you can't go wrong with the Seagull 1963 for the price.
If you not particular about the movement, then Brew Metric or there are lot of quartz chronograph options. Seiko SSC813 would be my pick.
Sugess, which also uses Seagull movements, has a couple of new manual wind chronographs that really look good. https://sugesswatch.com/
Any Seiko powered chrono. Mine was well under a hundred bucks to make.
Studio Underdog - all along the same lines as the other Seagull ST1901 powered watches but they went with a ‘big eye’ and rectangular pushers…
The seagull, but I’d find a different dial for it
Brew obviously

Timex q chronograph would be a good entry level
Which entry-level chronograph would I choose?
Answer: The one without the idiotic 24Hr indicator.
I would go for the Seiko Speedtimer. I like a quartz Chronograph over a mechanical but that's just me.
I'm partial to Farr + Swit and their Solar Chrono Vice Edition https://youtu.be/HvZpIM9HLk4
I'm biased.....
Seagull 1963 panda 40mm, with swan neck and see through case back.
Then get it on a black NATO with shiny bits!
Seiko Speedtimer or Wolbrook Skindiver quartz
I've been looking at a Seguess, just hunting the right time, dial.

This is another really good suggestion. Same seagull type movement but has good looks and is a cool microbrand.
Bulova Lunar Pilot.
That Brew is hideous, & mechanical chronographs are astronomically expensive to service unless you're going to treat the 1963 as a disposable.
Yema Rallygraph.
