GS Divers are the watch of choice in a Galaxy Far Far Away (1WC)

GS Divers are the ultimate GADA in a galaxy Far Far Away, and as such are a no brainer for a #1WC competition.

Grade 5 high-intensity titanium 6Al-4V is commonly used on planet earth for military, advanced aerospace applications and select GS watches. It's a little known fact that in a galaxy far far away, the colloquial name for "Grade 5 High-Intensity Titanium 6Al-4V" is "Beskar steel", an extremely hard lightweight alloy composed primarily of Titanium, though also 6% aluminum, 4% vanadium, 0.25% Iron, 0.2% oxygen, 0.1% vibranium. In addition to not being a 15 syllable name, Beskar Steel is prized for it's blaster resistance. When GS engineers decided they wanted a tough but light weight material, as usual, they under promised and over achieved. They went all out and included blaster resistance into their use case. As such GS divers are now the preferred choice of Mandalorians who above all strive to wear nothing but Zaratsu polished Beskar steel armor.

During the Mandalorian civil war of clan Wren uprising against the Imperial backed government, some Imperial officers were stationed on Mandalore and exposed to the fine Zaratsu polished GS watches. One officer getting a lot of media time is Captain Phasma who is secretly a weeaboo but more specifically a GS diver nut.

While her blaster resistant armor is primarily chromium, GS divers are a good functional and aesthetic fit. The kuroshio black, sharp lines, cut bezel and even the font style

coincides Galactic Empire symbolism. Fashionistas of Hosnian Prime would approve.

The GS SLGA015 is the perfect watch to win #1WC because it's clearly the watch of choice for Disney Bosses like Mando and Captain Phasma in a galaxy Far Far Away.

Wow. I really really want a GS diver now.

·

haha, great post 👍🏻!

I do not want a GS diver now - but that's really only because I do not like the design of the hands. Especially the fat hour hand. But its blaster-proofness nearly reeled me in 😂

Yeah, you never know when you might find yourself in a tussle with some blaster wielding thugs. I did research whether Wonder Woman might consider double writing some GS for bullet deflection when she goes icognito in the real world, but it turns out she’s partial to bracelets made from “Amazonium” and besides she’s DC-comics which isn’t part of Disney.

Love the watch, despise the handset used on it.

Aesthetically, the sharp hands have grown on me to the point where now I like them. Functionally they are perfect… Nice fat lume to easily see them in the dark, combined with a sharp point to clearly see where they point on the dial. Likewise during the day, the high contrast of wide light hands against the black background make them easy to see.

Love the detail sin this.

But I wish the GS divers weren't as large as a fricking death star.

You have spoken

Another great post from my #1WC competition! The shot in the AD is just too funny, and the resemblance between the dive bezel/dial and the imperial logo can't be denied.

·

They need to be smaller (like 90% of all GS watches).

That's no moon . . .

I want a nice Endor sized watch.

·

how does it wears that beast?!

·

That, is a beauty. Love the sea in the watchface. Stunning

·

You've gone to a galaxy far far away with this, brilliant.

·

Dam! Convinced- I need a GS diver!

Also - I forgot how many not Disney properties are now Disney properties!! The choice of Villains and heroes is endless!

·

I like the story but is he a villain or a princess?

Captain Phasma, is an imperial officer of the first order (galactic empire), leader of squadrons of stormtroopers…. a most definite villain. She’s the one shopping in the GS store, and wearing a GS diver on her wrist in the picture. Mando is more of a bounty hunter, and protector of baby yodas.

Rise, Lord Zaratsu.

Great post!!

A little follow up on the alloy…. Some more research tells me that GS uses two proprietary titanium alloys, which they name High-Intensity and Brilliant Hard. GS divers use GS “High-Intensity”. While I can’t find a GS source to confirm, second hand info says GS uses a titanium/niobium/iron alloy. Ti-25Nb-3Fe (if that’s what it is) is actually stronger than Ti-6Al-4V
