Is this for fun or is he serious?

Sometimes I feel he’s joking but he seems so passionate about some brands (passionately loving or hating them) that it seems genuine. Thoughts?

Who is that?

Nico Leonard on his latest YT video

·

Nico is loud and opinionated. Who cares what he likes?

·

First goal: getting us to talk about it! :) Even when he talks about Hublot outside of his own channel he is not nearly as extreme. He owns a Grand Seiko, etc.

·

It’s worth a laugh but most of the time it feels like he’s trolling.

·

He's a watch dealer. Buy stuff from his store or sell your watches to him really cheap. That's what all this is about. Nothing more.

·

Nico is the quintessential YouTuber. Clickbait titles, cringe thumbnails, react videos, fake drama, tier lists, bad buzz. Anything and everything for views. And it has worked great for him and his team. Don't take anything he says at face value, it's just a loud and caricatural YouTube persona for $$$. 👍

·

So to answer your question if it is a joke or serious, I think that it's neither. Anything he says/does is just part of the show.

Most of his thumbnails he is yelling lol 😵‍💫

·

It’s a personality he’s doing for views. I wouldn’t take it too seriously.

Thanks all, since I’m new to watch social media , I didnt know what to make of his opinions 😅Being in India, I don’t have many brands to experience first hand (Eg: Bulova, which he slotted as Sh*te, and I’m really looking forward to owning the Lunar Pilot someday) therefore seeing some brands at low tier seemed crazy.

He is a grey market dealer selling watches on his website 'bribe and pinion' he pushes what he wants to sell....

Yeah, he's definitely a troll. He's just the modern Archie Luxury...

·

There is some truth to it. But it’s subjective.

That said, if you look at the secondary market (the value of your watch if you resell), it’s not untrue. A lot of the sh*t brands lose a lot of money as soon as you buy them (or are hard to resell).

So…if you are buying the watch because you love it (subjective) who cares if it’s on the Sh*t category. If you’re planning on reselling it or trade at some point…then it may matter if people like Nico believe it’s Sh*t (objectively they are the resale market)

WTH is God Tier anyways? Anybody?

WTH is God Tier anyways? Anybody?

Things in the God tier are worthy of the Gods. If we are to believe they are omnipotent & eternal beings, then something worthy of them must be pretty good.

Now for the real answer; God Tier is marketing fluff. Not for Casio, but for Nico himself. Every time we utter, type or think of God Tier, Nico is right there in our thoughts.

I’ve seen a little of Nico. Enough to know I’d seen enough and safely pay no further attention. But apparently not enough to know god tier was him. I like Casio as much as the next watch guy, but god tier? 🙄

Each person has there own passion and does things there own way.

I don’t have the video right now but he did actually explain why Casio is godtier. To paraphrase him: everyone has a Casio, from all walks of life. From billionaires like Gates to presidents like Clinton to terrorists like Osama Bin Laden. Movie stars wear them, musicians, common folks like you and me, everyone. Just so there’s no misinterpretation, by everyone he doesn’t that literally. He just means—I think—that Casio is good enough for the big personalities but reachable enough so that anyone, anywhere can get it on their wrist. If that’s not an example of omnipresence, which is a qualification for “God”, I don’t know what is.

I don’t disagree with him. I’m not a Casio fan but if any brand deserves to be godtier it’s probably—probably—Casio.

Also, I like Nico. I don’t take anything he says seriously. I’d share a drink with him but wouldn’t take his advice on what to buy.

I know lists can be subjective, but damn, this list shows he hasn't got a clue when it comes to watches. Embarrassing.

If that’s what he’s saying it makes sense in a roundabout, albeit silly kinda way.

He says that, but the cynic in my sees it as a naked ploy to draw in as many viewers as possible. Trash talk expensive brands that you don't sell or that don't sell well, and heap ridiculous praise on the cheapest mainstream brand on the market.

·

There probably is an element of salesmanship in hos videos. Having a youtube channel is going to be a great avenue for him to promote his other business. However, I must say this video wasn't just which brands are good or bad, he was talking more about what they've done this year, and how he felt about it. The controversial opinions are the ones that get him views.

The list is not to be taken seriously though. He put brands in categories for ridiculous reasons.

When companies like Bell and Ross, Piaget and Blancpain are in a category with Daniel Wellington and Versace then theres really no question.

·

I don't take Nico too seriously, you have to remember. This is his list. I find him at times entertaining and very knowledgeable. Who cares if you love Hublot, that is your right. Who cares what other think. That is why we love watches. I am a Casio fan boy and yet would not say they are "God Tier" I love them but, some may not .. it will boil down to your individual taste. Period.
