What's your go-to weekend watch?

I usually wear a watch that can take a beating since I'm usually out at the Ag barn or taking on a project at the house. By taking a beating, I don't mean a run-down beater, but something that can withstand an occasional knock or hit and yet I can still wear it to go out to dinner.

So, do you wear a single watch that can do it all, or do you swap it out?

I swap around, based on what I'm doing. I've got more beater watches than I need, so the choices are aplenty! But the go-to is a #casio #gshock GA100-1A4. Always treats me well!

Whatever I feel like wearing really. If I am going to be doing yard work or something, I put my dw5600 on.  Other than that, what ever tickles my fancy.

That O&W with the off-sized NATO. It screams "weekend tool"

It does scream "bring it on" 🍻

I have a large enough collection that I will switch between watches. If I am going to be in a situation where I need a watch to do both, I usually pick my G Shock GMWB5000. It looks nice enough for a dinner date and is definitely tough enough to take a knock or two.

I need to invest in one of these. My G-Shock was stolen years ago, and I never replaced it.

I wear whatever strikes me on a particular day, unless I'm doing something like kayaking. If I'm going out in my kayak I'll wear a watch on a MN, or NATO, as the bug spray and sun screen tends to mess with resin, or leather bands.

I think I paid between $350-$400 for this one. I had purchased one of the conversion kits on AliExpress for my GWM5610, but it just wasn't the same as having one of the GMWBs, primarily because of the screw on case back. You can get a GM5600 for under $200 if you shop around, but it won't have the multiband 6, blue tooth, or solar power, and I am not sure if it has the screw on case back, but it does have the stainless steel shroud.

Good to know. Thank you!

Personally I wore all my watches on rotations depending on my mood and occasion. I don't care whether it is cheap or exp nor I'm a believer of investment watch .... I don't buy watches just to collect dust. My advice for people who scared damaging their watch, consider saving the original bracelet, and use extra straps or from third party. You need to be able to enjoy those hard earned spent 👍

·

I have a lot of watches, and I rotate sometimes 2-3 times a day, depending on the day, so I might not be the right guy to give advice here... however if the situation was I needed one watch to both wear around the farm and subject it to punishment, and then head out to dinner with it, I would reach for my Orient Mako II. I have much nicer dinner watches, and stronger farm watches, but that one would be bridge both the best, in my collection anyway.

Well, I have watches that would probably be better if money is no object, but I am not going to wear anything worth over 5K to do farm work.

Fun fact. This guy (Jimmy Diresta) is one of the original makers on youtube. He does everything from automotive to welding, leatherwork, woodworking, boat making, you name it, he has probably done it. he always has his sub on, and I have seen it covered in everything from Bondo to paint. So those are a good choice, but I for one would not do it :)

Regardless of the price it will be a Submariner.

My usual choice is a Baltic Aquascaphe.

I swap around, depending on what I’m doing. If I’m doing doing work around my dock, like today, its my RipCurl Tides.

I swap out. If I’m on a light hike, for instance, I’ll wear a field watch. If I’m doing a more rugged one or camping, I’ll wear my G-Shock. If I’m out having drinks, I’ll wear a nicer one. It’s not because I’m afraid of knocking around a diver if I’m in the woods or anything like that, though. For me, figuring out the right watch to suit the situation is half the fun of wearing a watch.

On a completely unrelated note, I ordered this (heavily cropped . . . but you get the point) watch off of AliExpress for $5. Like it? I’m trying to figure out what activity would go best with this one.
