There a decent number of options for your price point. I think it is best to suggest brands at that price point and then you can check for yourself.
Look at Tissot, Seiko, Timex. These brands are quite different from each other so they suit a variety of tastes.
There are 2 watches that pop up to my mind.
- Timex Expedition - Quartz (there are different color options for it and the one below is for about 100$). I have one and I love it.
2. Seiko SNXS79K - Automatic (before it was about 100$ now it is nearing the 150-180$ mark). The Seiko is the one of the best automatic watches at that price point PERIOD. If your friend can slightly increase his budget then the Seiko is a well respected classic.
Absolutely, this is the fun in watch collecting, matching outfits with watches.
For me holiday watches are all about colors. I try to wear different colored dials and straps and match it to the outfit.
First i have to say that the watch with the the strap you put on it, is a great choice for summer.
Secondly, regarding purchasing watches try to set rules for yourself, they can help you remove guilt when buying watches.
For me my watch collecting rules are the following:
- If I can't afford 5x the price of the watch i want, i don't get it.
- No more than a watch each 3 months.
- I don't get watches on sales except if I wanted the watch before it had a sale on it and it doesn't violate rule 1 and 2.
For me these rules keep watch collecting interesting because it limits a lot of the watch options out there and it helps me avoid guilt.
