Pelagos decision - Which would you choose? Blue / Black / LHD

Hey all, thinking of finally pulling the trigger on a Pelagos as a beater.
I was leaning towards the LHD but they are now harder to come by... which would you choose of the 3 and why?
Thanks

Pelagos blue all day long. IMO It looks much more rugged and utilitarian. A few watches give me this need to "go outside and do stuff" and this Pelagos Blue is one of these.

·

Beater? For that price?

·

Personally, I would choose the LHD - I just feel the Pelagos works best on a nato. Between the two pictured above, probably still the blue. Pelagos feels like a beach/summer watch to me, and I’d end up enjoying it more with some equally bright solid natos… though think it might look great on a tropic/sailcloth strap too. Good luck 👍… pro tip, just get all 3 and pass on the headaches 😂

If it's going to be a beater, then go Blue. If it's not a beater, still go Blue. Regardless the circumstance - it's Blue. It really pops.

Black

I would definitely choose the blue. The blue is just amazing. The color and the shade of blue is beautiful in my opinion. Ever since I saw one I’ve wanted one. Maybe one day I’ll get one. Maybe as a graduation gift or something.

·

I tend to go for dark dials myself

·

Really depends on your personaility and attire IMHO, blue is definitely more casual/fun than the black one.

I personally am leaning towards the black one, blue would attract too much attention.

·

Black, no contest. Simple classic and timeless.

·

Having seen both of these in  the flesh I always go back to the black.  It reminds me more of the vintage military issued models.  The blue doesn't give the same vibe.

Yeah, its a tool watch... i don't baby my watches so bumps and scratches are gonna happen.

·

The black one goes with everything

it's a tough call... i have other blue faced watches (seamaster), but don't have a black faced watch on a bracelet... black faced on leather, white faced on navy leather... so the black would tick a box

I think I prefer the blue, but every time I’ve tried it on I don’t like it, it feels a little bit too (can’t find a better word) fibreglassy. My parents owned a blue fibreglass shelled cruiser when I was younger but it was badly looked after by multiple previous owners so had this white grainy texture up close, I get the same vibe. Like a brittle been out in the sun too long UV damaged vibe. Old garden furniture. Don’t like the black because it’s too boring. I want to like the Pelagos, but I struggle.

My stupid opinion, please ignore.

Ha ha - great choice!
I like the FXD but I think i would miss the bracelet option. Either way, these are badass watches.
Enjoy yours!

I thought it would be a bit large on my 6.25in wrist but once on it just wears perfect!

Yeah it looks good from the picture. I have a 7inch wrist so happy with larger sized watches... recently turned down a 36mm explorer 1 because i felt it was too small.

Since you have a 7inch wrist any Pelagos version will work for you! You could try hunting for the 39mm Explorer then. Sadly the prices for those might be up since it's discontinued.

I initially wanted the black for its versatility.  Plus the blue looked a bit too vibrant in photos.  Once I saw the blue I really liked it and bought it.  Turns out to be more versatile than I expected.  I still kinda wanted the black though, so in the end I bought both.  They are fantastic watches and I love ‘em.  I must admit though: the blue gets more wrist time.

Great perspective. My head says black because of the versatility but then my heart says to be more daring

I really like the LHD…except for the faux lume.  Not really my thing.

·

TBH the LHD. Since it got Vintage Style Lume, and a red lettering.

If i had to chose between those 2 in the pic, it'd be the black one for sure.

I also like the fact the LHD is a lower production... and the red lettering is a lovely touch.
thanks for the input!

Thanks all....
in the end I went Black... as i didnt have a black bezel watch in my possession. Thought the blue may cramp my Seamaster 300 which was a 21 present from my parents so isn't going anywhere.

For anyone thinking about a Pelagos - it's AMAZING

·

Get the blue !

·

I went with LHD.  Sentimental value to me, reminds me of my Milsub that I foolishly sold a million years ago.

gutting to have sold it... I love the milsub... just wish the prices hadnt shot up the way they have

·

For your purpose as daily beater , I will go ahead with Blue pelagos .  However , if you could get the LHD , that’s even better as it is just discontinued and getting rarer .

Are you thinking about the FXD, wich comes on NATO? The LHD I believe is the black dial with vintage white details and the crown on the left. I think the LHD comes on the regular titanium bracelet though.

I say you get both and your least favorite one, you use as a beater. And the one you like the most, you give to your closest friend or family member. That way the one you like the most will be the one most looked after. Oh and I just realized this post is 1 year old haha. So which one did you get?
