Does a perfect watch really exist? To each their own, but I do think there are watches that can be cataloged as perfect. To me a perfect watch has to:
Be versatile. You could wear it anyday for any ocassion.
Be water resistant. At least 100m WR.
Have history. Not microbrands (although I love many micros).
A right size. FOR ME, less than 47mm from lug to lug. (this last one may differ from one another because of the size of everyone's wrist)
To me, the perfect watch is one which I nicknamed as The Endgame Watch:
TUDOR BLACK BAY 54.
Which would be YOUR perfect watch?

Oris big crown, style is dressy-vintage but red color is also sporty-daily, has a history, perfect size at 40mm, goes well with both strap and bracelet

Beautiful choice.

In fact, for some years now, the Oris Big Crown has been on my list, but the green one at 36. Maybe someday.
The one and only Rolex submariner
@robertsamble Rolex Cosmograph Daytona.

Easy. Stunning piece.
The endgame watch should be versatile, without any obvious optical flaws but at the same time not boring. This is the big issue.
If you look at it from a perspective of trying to cover all situations i think the Vacheron Constantin Overseas is a strong contender ๐ the brand got incredible heritage and history. The finishing is on part with the biggest names in the high horology space and next to that it comes with a bracelet a rubber strap and a leather one so you can switch it up for the occasion and on top of that it is a very subtle design that can be dressy or rather sporty and toned down. ๐๐ป So kind of a GADA watch in my opinion and with that a strong contendor for a โperfectโ watch ๐๐ป
Greetings Simon :)

Great choice. I totally agree.

Boring to who?
Rolex GMT Master II
Or Tudor Pelagos
Sinn 556
On the lower end of the spectrum when it comes to price but I think this qualifies

It totally qualifies. Been on my radar for a while.
I already have 2. The Santos is my daily whereas I wear my Rolex more sparingly, as it is a bit more flashy for everyday office use.
A. Lange & Sรถhne Odysseus. Simply perfect. Of course Iโll probably never to able to afford one but still perfect ๐
For me so far out of all the watches I own the AT on bracelet or rubber is as close to the perfect watch that I own. Can wear it with anything, has good wrist presence but not too big. But what I think my perfect watch is for me is the GP Lauriato. Everything the at has but with hand donated movement, more intriguing history better fit and finish and itโs just as versatile!
Grand Seiko SBGA407
Just like what they say about the best camera is the one you have with you right now, the perfect watch is the one you wear the most.
Bb54 is a solid choice, but mine have to be Rolex explorer 36mm. Unfortunatelly i cant afford one cause in Brasil is crazy expensive like, R$ 54.000,00. If i translate this to an american perspective it would be like U$ 100.000,00
Sorry to say that, but the "perfect watch" doesn't exis...
Never found a perfect watch. Thereโs very minor things I would change about every watch Iโve ever handled.

You sure about that? There are plenty of people with only one watch. Im sure to them this is the perfect one.
Tudor black bay 58 ๐คฉ
I think rolex submariner has to be the perfect watch
My perfect watch WAS (circa the late 70s) my Rolex Explorer II ref 1655. Wore it for decades.
But....
Time marches on and several factors saw me change watches. It was old tech with a stamped clasp, stamped end links and stamped center links. It only had 100m water resistance. It had a plexiglass crystal that was constantly in need of buffing. And the 24 hour hand was slave to the main hour hand. While I LOVED the look of it, I had a choice to make when service time rolled around again. It had become a collector's item worth $30,000 dollars (I had paid $850 for it!). And it would cost $500+ to service it.
I sold it.
Then I bought the Steinhart homage to it - which is, honestly, a vastly superior timepiece! The Steinhart cost what SERVICE would have cost on the Rolex!!! All of the stamped Rolex parts were milled steel on the Steiny, the crystal was sapphire, the WR increased 300%, and the 24-hour hand was an independently adjustable GMT hand! And it looks almost exactly the same! It was a no-brainer, since this look is my favorite of all time.
So my perfect watch is this OLKO Special Edition of the Steinhart Ocean GMT. It doesn't hurt that a dive vacation to Jamaica and a much fatter bank account accompanied it. ๐

All I gotta say to your story is in this picture:
Perfect for me is 114270. Robust but at the same time can be pretty. Comfortable, light but reliable and dependable. Elegant and classy. Modern and vintagy at the same time. Most importantly, it kills watch addiction and prevents me from buying too many watches ๐

Amen amen amen
Are words necessary?
Sinn 104 would be my perfect watch if it had drilled lugs for easy strap changes.
