It is even reported. Movie star Arnold stopped and had to pay tax. Ive heard some countries are actually targeting money laundering by stopping those with a high end watches. One Richard Mille is as good as USD500k to some. Speak to money changers in your country for juicy bits
Not a defy skyline then. It has to be a chronograph elprimero. A chronomaster sport or ori chronomaster is a better buy. You'll want ur elprimero to be a three register chronograph. The defy skyline seconds hand looks a little odd spinning like crazy. Better sell one or the Omega with another of the other watches. Many have regretted parting with their Rolexes years after they sold them. Never right away, but years down the road. Unless you already pushing 60or 70, then no regrets i think.
I'd never suggest trading a Rolex for a Zenith. Unless I wanted to pocket the extra cash and get a super depreciating watch with the balance. The Rolex has a high chance of appreciating even more after 20yrs, as for the Zenith, look at Chrono24 for used prices. Wait till the Defy drops in price and buy used.
While the zenith is good, it isn't a placeholder for even a VC Overseas let along a Nautilus or a Royal Oak. That el primero movement is also a little bit more expensive to work on post warranty if anything goes wrong.
I have the Tudor and I'd still take the Tudor. While the glassbox is nice I prefer the original three register chrono carerra over the glassbox. The tudor looks so much like a 70s rolex/tudor and its the story of ita combined heritage that i like better. The screw down pushers make it have a beefier look. Also very useful adding to the 200m wr
I wanted a 124060 and with a track record got mine in under a year. a month after that they offered another DJ31 for my kid which we said we wanted. This was end 23 and then Jan 24. The wait is there, it isn't a list but more like the OPs post. If they like you you will get it with a reasonable period
Wear them. Never pack them in luggage unless you don't want to see it again (high possibility). If you have to bring another one in ur carry on bag. Remember if customs are not in the mood and ur travelling with very expensive timepieces they may ask u to declare them and tax you for it regardless of ur reason. Some places you should never travel w super expensive watches (anything Rolex, AP, PP, RM etc) as you are a target. Unless Dubai, Singapore, Japan, or that sort of countries. Of course, bottomline is its up to you but wear the expensive one. Keep a casio or seiko as a backup if u want
