Getting your grail is possible.

Today I got my grail watch. This was my 3rd watch, with my AD since 2019. All 3 I wanted, did not have to buy ones I didn’t. I go in every 6 months just to chat with my AD. On Monday, I went to speak with him and he told me there is a good chance they are closing down at the end of the year.

After chatting for quite some time, I had brought up that I still wanted a Daytona, and if they are closing down shortly, and there isn’t any chance to get one, I wouldn’t bother him about it. He said 50/50 chance. Call back in a few months

Today, 2 days letter he called me, unexpectedly. He told me, I have always been kind and understanding with how crazy the watch market is, and he appreciated my understanding. He wanted to show his appreciation, and asked me to come down, he had a Daytona for me.

I don’t think this is a normal scenario, but just wanted to let those who are discouraged know there are situations it does work out.

Good luck

Congrats! Your experience was like mine. Nothing close to what you hear about. Never bought anything I didn't want and received good customer service. Enjoy your Daytona!

Stop giving me false hope..

Wow. Sensational. Congratulations. The black dial would be my choice too. You have 3 of the best in the photos. .

·

I wanted a 124060 and with a track record got mine in under a year. a month after that they offered another DJ31 for my kid which we said we wanted. This was end 23 and then Jan 24. The wait is there, it isn't a list but more like the OPs post. If they like you you will get it with a reasonable period

Wow, you have a great collection!

·

I don’t see it as likely but i hope I’m able to comfortably afford a call for a 124270 or a lefty gmt one day

·

Three big hitters there, congratulations!

·

That is a 3 watch collection right there!! 👏🏼

·

Congrats mate. If only the ADs in Singapore were like that. I need to buy a few crap pieces to even get In line😑

Thanks bud

What a trio 🥰 great to hear you found a decent and honest AD 👌🏽

·

Hey Jay,

Congrats on getting your grail, what a beautiful watch! And thanks for sharing a wholesome Rolex AD story :).

·

It happens. Sounds like my situation. I’m waiting on #4 and my year under the AD’s once a year policy is just about up. 🤞

·

I'm super delighted for you. It's such an amazing watch.

I was just on a work trip and spoke with an AD for Rolex in Seattle. We were told they get between 20-40 Daytonas a year and have 400+ people on their waiting list. He suggested that getting a Rolex was different than other watches, but we didn't ask for details. Now I wish we had asked to see how it "really" works.

Regardless, we moved on to look at some Tudors!

Cheers and congrats! Steve

Not at all trying to sound disparaging, but it does seem you had to court him a bit. You were still at their mercy, combined with the luck of the draw?

Good for you! Beautiful watch.

But the need to have to do this all sounds silly to me. More contemptibly, it always seems like a fix is in on their retailing. See 'Spokanesteve' above.

There is, but I understood his perspective. Every day 100 people, literally, walk in and request this watch. There are 6 salesman each salesman gets 6-10 watches a year. Who do you give it to?

For him, he doesn’t want to sell the watch to someone who is looking just to flip it for double the profit. He also has his whales. People who have spent 100k+ with him, who have earned the right to buy, by sheer numbers.

I am not a whale, and I had to earn his trust. It sounds silly considering this is a luxury watch, which in all seriousness no one needs. But, this is the way of the world right now. Obviously you don’t have to play this game.

The reason I was willing, he was very honest and upfront from day 1.

You're a trooper! I'd never have enough patience to do all of that. Especially when considering I'm paying 'full pop.' If not full pop 'plus.'

Is this place where you reside…here on planet earth?

and on our same timeline?

Yeah, my city is … different! 😂. I’m starting to think Rolex sales to non whales is regional. Anyone here who wants one, must go befriend an AD across the border or out east.

Anyway, congrats on the NWA!

I get where you coming from, and completely relate. I am definitely in the minority with this experience.

To be fair, other circumstances I’m In the same boat. I got lucky that my sales rep was a decent individual who doesn’t deal grey market or take bribes. He wanted to sell to genuine people.

I love Porsches, I tried to be honest and relatable there, and I got a big f you. I either got to buy a lot of cars you don’t want or give a big bribe under the table.

I don’t live in some dreamworld where the rules don’t apply to me.
