The new Longines Hydroconquest GMT vs a Sub

Here are a few photos of the new Longines Hydroconquest GMT beside a Submariner 124060. I like the new Hydroconquest's new case and crownguards.

While it loses some character vs the current diver version, it looks better but maybe too generic. I am mot bothered by the round markers at 6&9 as this is a nod to the Admiral diver from the 1980s. At least there is still some quirkiness still there in these new pieces

Oh, I like the adjustable clasp too. Brings these up a notch also.

The 6 and 9 and the hour hand bothers me. Design just seems off. The numbers on the bezel seem too large and cartoonish. Not for me but to each their own.

I really the new design of the HydroConquest - esp crown guards. Not as big of fan of the new dial layout/markers - prefer the older look which sort of spoke to being Lingines.

OT: People say the new HydroConquest takes a lot of Submariner design ques - true - but IMO with it's dial markers it strongly resembles the Monta OceanKing.

It looks (just a little) odd to me because the 6 and 9 markers are visually smaller than the other ones (whereas they are usually bigger, if not the same size). Only other complaints are the lack of any polished chamfering/bevelling and the price hike. A smaller size would also have suited my puny wrists better lol

Price hike? All new Longines models seem to be getting increases. But this one has a GMT function whereas the normal Hydroconquest does not, so will be more expensive. As for the markers...decisive definitely but harks back to old Admiral Divers from the 1980s. So Longines is bringing something from their vast back Catalog back. The casework or rather lack of extra finishing is due to it being a Longines and not Omega ai believe. It still has to sell within a certain price point and this means some give over in that department. But once its on a wrist I didnt seem to care as much. Don't know whether I want it as I've already got so many watches already
