Similar but not the same

Put my Tudor Pelagos 39 beside the photo of a 1974 Tudor Submariner. So darn similar. Of course, this is also so similar to the five digit Rolex sub but the dial markers and handset are the same compared to this Tudor. If the 39 was a Submariner, you will see its popularity soar.

Both of these are outstanding watches! Very different in my opinion.

Different yes and also no. Titanium actually makes the 39 wear like it is a five digit sub with its hollow end links and middle links, but somehow feels a little more solid. In terms of case shape, so close but not the same. The rehaut is obviously different as is the bezel. But so similar that I even compare it to the 14060m which sits beside it in the watch case most of the time.

But the Pelagos is a Pelagos designed as the Pelagos, so it’s not a Tudor Submariner, similar or not.

And it is an outstanding watch in its own right 💪

Love them both. Similar in ways, but each has its own character and identity. Cool Tudor collection friend 😍
