Is 34mm too small?

I’ve been collecting watches since 2014, the trend then was to wear huge watches, 42-50mm. Most of my watches are between 42-44mm in size. However, recently I’ve been experimenting with watches between 36-38mm. I found this beautiful 34mm Gruen watch at a flea market; I think it is from the 1960s. I love the simplicity of the dial, the weight and design of the watch. Do you think 34mm is too small for our modern times? I’m going to keep wearing it, I like it.

No it is not too small, on the contrary I notice trend of "smaller" watches returning. Based on pictures 44mm might be too big for you and 34mm looks just right.

Honestly I wish I could wear a 34mm cause there are so many good ones but my wrist is a bit too thick. Looks great on yours!

·

Not at all - in fact much more lug to lug length and it'd be overhanging your wrist.

Looks good.

·

Looks absolutely perfect!

·

That's up to you to decide, it's you that's wearing the watch

·

Nope, looks perfect. I have a very similar Gruen!

Looks great. Then was then. Its more than OKAY to wear a watch that actually fits your wrist. Perfectly fits your wrist from the image. Maybe your usual sizing has skewed your perception vs what seems to fit. Unless u like chunkier watches with weight and presence. This style however works in this size.

Looks perfect on your wrist 👍

·

No, that looks gorgeous. I have got a 36mm Seiko field watch,I should say I like it more than my 40mm watches and enjoy wearing it

·

It looks good on your wrist. I have a friend with an 8" wrist who wears a 36mm Rolex Datejust, and it looks fine.

First off, a Gruen is a terrific watch especially from this time period. The 34mm size is somewhat misleading. It’s really the dial size that determines how it looks on your wrist. A thick bezel and therefore smaller dial size will wear significantly smaller than the same overall size with a thin bezel and wider dial. You have a lot of dial real estate on your watch and I think it looks terrific on your wrist.

Looks good to me!

No

Looks awesome I’ve got a 50mm tuna and a 34mm devile and everything between on an 8 inch wrist. Size doesn’t mater just how it makes you feel

·

Nope. I have a large wrist and currently wearing a 30 mm enicar ATP.

·

I don't think so. I only own one 34mm and I think it looks fine. Your's looks just right. In fact my 34mm Timex Marlin manual wind is one of my top five favorite children.

·

33-34mm is my favorite size, and I have a 7mm wrist. It was the right size for our fathers and grandfathers, and it’s right for us!

Not too small at all
