Do you go on cruises? If so, do you have/bring a cruising companion?

Ever since 2020, my Tudor black bay bronze has been my trusty cruise companion. Love how it patinas and how much it has changed over the past few years. Every time I wear her I remember all the great adventures we've had. I've taken this baby all around the Caribbean and we've shared some unforgetable memories. For full disclosure, I usually bring 4-5 watches on our family cruises, but my bb bronze is the only one I bring everytime.

I brought 3 for a 7 day to Mexico so it’s all good.

Nice Monta! Been seeing a lot of good reviews on them. I usually bring a few also, at least a dress, workout, gmt, and some divers, usually bronze.

Sorry, my wife and I don't cruise because we want to actually immerse ourselves leisurely in the sights, culture and lives of the places and people that we visit and not be hurriedly shepherded around like sheep at each port on the itinerary. There is nothing better than sharing a bottle of wine al fresco and just watching the world go by...😊

We do that as well! We cruise to different countries to get a feel for them and then we later fly down for a longer visit to the countries we enjoyed like Mexico, Costa Rica, Dominican, etc.

If I were to book a cruise today I’d take my Islander abalone dial monster. Only because I’ve never gone adventuring with it and it’s uniquely nautical looking.

The cheaper way to do it is to get a feel of the places from respected bloggers on YouTube, and THEN fly down for a longer visit. 😁 By that time you'd already have recommendations of where to stay, visit and eat.

I'm planning to bring a dress watch, a sports watch and then buy a nice diver aboard, I've been saving my pennies for one lol

·

I've never been on a cruise because my wife has motion sickness and I'm afraid that if we went on one she would feel horrible the whole time.

·

I have one expensive hobby, and that's watches.

·

My standard travel watch is my Railmaster, though sometimes I take one of my Seamasters instead. Couldn’t vote in the poll because I have nothing against bronze watches.

My wife has motion sickness as well, but after several cruises she has mastered cruising, she takes a lot of bonine. 😁

Sometimes you can find good deals on the cruise ship or in Port. Currently I'm on a msc cruise eyeing some IWC, Panerai and Cartier. Would have pulled the trigger earlier, but the cruise has been lackluster at best, and I really don't want to spend that kind of money on a watch that would remind me of a mediocre cruise. 😕

I went on my first cruise this past May. I really enjoyed it, despite being a rabidly avid outdoor adventurer.

I just grabbed one of the watches I enjoy and wore it.

Same here, grabbed my new bronze tudor, and started making memories with it. Happy cruising 😁

Ummm. Isn’t Invicta the only true answer for what to wear on a cruise?

It sure seems like it! They're everywhere. My daughter wants me to buy their black panther watch. I'm trying to explain to her that it would look like her cell phone strapped to my wrist, but she likes the purple and the cat. 😵‍💫

Perfect way to kill two birds with one stone! Three actually, because once the wife gets her jewelry she'll be less likely to care about another watch purchase you'll make on the trip! 😁

It's kind of our thing, if I buy a watch, she obviously gets something similar in value. So she's always checking our credit card bills. Needless to say, I've been cutting back 🤣🤣🤣

I like Marc's Islanders. I bought my Cussler Doxa because of him. He's also a big Cussler fan.

Yeah, it gets more difficult to slip a purchase by the higher up in value it is. Specially if you factor in the already high price of the trip. We've particularly enjoyed our trips to the Cartier and Bulgari ADs overseas, if only to see what's available in other markets.

Nice. It’s looks nautical to begin with so what an excellent choice.

Thanks! The patina gives the watch a nice weathered look, which I love and some people hate. My wife calls it my dirty watch 🤣

Aren’t you meant to buy watches on cruises? Might as well go with no watch and use that as an excuse to buy one!

The cruise watch stores must love you 🤣

Usually whatever money is leftover after paying for our cruise goes to drinks and jewelry, literally in that order. My wife gets me drunk and takes me to an Effy store, which seem to be everywhere. 🤣

Even prior to the pandemic, I have referred to cruise ships as "giant floating petri dishes" for many years.

No fear of the ocean but large crowds and buffets make me queasy. Not to mention the a**hole bouillabaisse that those pools and hot tubs are.

No desire to be stuck on a boat with thousands of people that excited to eat six meals per day.

I can overeat, overindulge on laying around and alcohol at home for far less.

·

Love cruising but not so much bronze.

My parents never enjoyed flying (my mother has a phobia of flying, I would say), but they traveled extensively and all over the world via cruises for their vacations. While my wife and I enjoy staying in 1-2 places for extended periods, we also enjoy the "turn your brain off and relax" lifestyle of a cruise. While I don't have any particular "cruise watch," I'll normally have a dGADA for daytime at-sea days (likely my AT), a diver or less-expensive GADA for shore excurtions or poolside, as well as at least one dress watch for evenings. That usually does the trick.
