Do you set your Date (and Day, Month, Moonphase)?

How complicated are your complications? Do you simply let the details pass? I have a vintage non-quick-set Day-Date. It stopped on the 15th, and I wanted to wear it today (the 13th), but I would have had to turn the time forward 28 days to set it to the correct day and date. I chose to wait a couple of days to wear it so I don't have to wind it all that much... Is having the correct day, date, month, and moonphase too OCD? Or are you content with the complications set incorrectly?

I’m a D type of guy to be honest, but that’s mainly because I have over 30 watches and I rotate everyday

·

I only have watches with the day and date and I always adjust them when I wear them, I don't have a high complication watch like a perpetual calendar or moon phases nor am I interested in having them.

·

Travelers GMT is the most complication I have.

I will set everything 100% (then wear each rotation for about a week before switching). I have 1 winder if I plan to switch between two GMT models or something.

·

No doubt about it. As i want to get all the correct information when i look on my timepiece i set it when it s going with me.

·

This is why I’ve got a watch winder, so my moonphase watches are always set, because they’re more of an issue to adjust. Otherwise if I can set the time it’s not too much of an issue to set a date or day/date.

·

My watches are either dateless, date only, or annual/perpetual calendars (quartz). Easy to keep correct setting.

·

Setting it is part of the experience to me. Although I do love my radio controlled citizen pcat lol

As the vote is bearing out, I think it's fair to say 'most people' - almost 9 out of 10 - see no point to wearing a watch on their wrist that isn't set properly.

·

Frankly I find the notion of a watch under-utilized offensive

·

With no close family member interested in taking possession of a few older well loved perpetual calendar watches, I reached out to a collector friend, negotiated a sale, ironically I used some of the dollars to purchase a simple moonphase as well as a triple calendar moonphase chronograph watch intend to shop for a few more moonphase watches depending on what is available. I do keep my watches properly set whether I am wearing them or not.

If it’s a quartz watch I set everything because it stays running. For mechanicals I only set the time. Most of my mechanicals don’t even have a date so I don’t rely on my watch for the date because most of them won’t tell me the date anyways!

I have a couple non-quick set date watches and they can be run past midnight to change date, then back to about 8:30pm, then back to midnight. Not quick-set but faster than all forward.

(Apologies if you knew that, but I was pretty grateful to the watchmaker who showed it to me.) 👍🏻

I go out just with the time set and I set the day and date when I have a minute during the day

Older watches were a little less user friendly. Newer models frequently have quick set functions. Try doing a Google search to see if there is a shortcut/cheat that you don't know about, to help make your morning a little easier ☺️

The 9:00 to 2:00 and back to 9:00 move comes in handy at least once a week for me 😉

It’s several 30-year-old Vostok Komandirskie models. No shortcut/cheat on those old clunkers. 😉

You'll just have to invest in some elbow grease☺️

I'm not buying a watch with date or other complication Not to set it. It's not difficult and that is part of the reason I bought it.

·

Well, not everything. I only approximate the moon phase so it might be off by a day or three. 😉

·

I set everything on my perpetual calendar.
