Watches under microscope vol. 15 Cronos LM6002 Bronze Diver

Welcome to the next sequel of the photo series of watches under the microscope.

Today we're taking a closer look at a Chinese Cronos watch, the LM6002 model with a blue dial. The watch case is made of bronze, so it reacts beautifully to the outside world by gradually developing a patina. The blue sunburst dial is covered by a convex sapphire crystal, and inside ticks the proven Seiko NH35 movement. What should be highlighted above all with this model is the absolutely incredible luminescence. Thanks to the large surface area of the indices and hands and the use of green lume paint, the watch works like a torch when illuminated. The endurance is also excellent, so it is no problem to read the time even in the morning. As far as lume is concerned, in my personal collection it is in a shared 2nd place with the Citizen BN0151. But now for the details.

The hands and indices are well done, there are some defects, but it is definitely above average. The application of the lume coating is good, some residue can be found on the hands. You won't find much dust in the watch, so it is far ahead of any Seiko in this respect. Here and there you can see a weak layer of printing, however, it is applied very accurately. The bezel has a bronze insert with embossed numerals that are filled in with black paint. The lume pip at 12 lags somewhat on the lume performance of the rest of the watch. I also tried to capture the details of the patina and its green tint. This watch cost around $200 and for that, one gets a really nicely made watch in bronze with excellent lume and a reliable movement. For me, it's just great.

Not sure I'd like to put any of my watches under the microscope, minute imperfections would bug me

I like it shows real hard work behind all watchmaking. There are brands like Wise or San Martin that are able to create watches almost perfect even under microscope. Then we have brands like Citizen or this Chronos that can create decent looking pieces. And finally we have Japanese giant who don't give a dam a bit.

Like most things in life, the bigger the company the less attention to detail
