What's next? (Affordable watch edition)

Hi Crunchers,

Can anyone recommend Swiss/German watches under 1000£?

Please show me some gems like my Certina.

Bonus points:

Sports watch

Dress watch

Automatic

Under £500

Under 40mm diameter

This is my current collection. I love these watches.

Seiko "DressKX" SRPE53

Tissot PRS200

Seiko SSB411P1

Orient "Kamasu" RA-AA0004E19B

Certina DS Podium C001.407.11.057.00

Seiko SNK809

I also have a box of beater, G-shocks and novelty watches I when damage is likely.

I need more brand diversity. I'd love more Swiss and German watches.

Bernhardt watches are nice. I like mine a lot.

Here are two areas that may be worth looking into.

Hamilton is very good. The khaki line has the 38mm field auto, and I like mine very much. There is also the Hamilton jazzmaster series, which is dressier.

Another option, for German, is Laco. I bought from Long Island Watch a few times with good results, and they sell Laco. Other places do too, but in any case Laco may be a brand to check out. Good hunting!

I have a casioak in my beater box. I love it and would love to put it in this box but that would leave me with this box looking uneven and an empty space in my beater box

In terms of new - you can get into a Farer (British brand, Swiss movements) from as little as £850. Hamilton are now part of Swatch and all Swiss movements - Hamilton Khaki Field for between £500-£850 depending on the variant. Or maybe if you’re happy with Quartz look for late 90s Omega, Raymond Weil etc - always cheaper than the mechanical versions.
