GMT Dress watch

Marc at Islander Watch read my mind. I really wanted a GMT watch, BUT I hate the style of about 97.6% of all the ones I've seen.

I always wondered with all the traveling business wo/men out there why there weren't many dress watch GMT's out there. Well we now have a nice; and very affordable, dress GMT to choose from. Thank you sir.

PS,

These just launched at a price of $269.

That one would fall in the 2.4% of GMT's that I like.

Lume on this looked lovely. I am all spent out at the moment, but I would have gone for one of the blue dials if not. This is a really nice piece! 👌

·

The dial doesn't work for me.

Not a fan of a hammer "textured" dial. Just looks weird to me.

·

Not really me, but it’ll sell (huge fan of Islander). But I think it needs some more color variants (Green, Yellow, PURPLE!)

·

Those look better with more natural photos. 😍

·

I like it

For the money... Cool piece

·

I like it, but would prefer a smaller size.

I prefer 34-38mm, but I do have one watch that's a 42mm. I'm good with 40mm, I just wish it wasn't as thick as it is.

Yeah, I’m ok with a 42 or even 43mm diver, But when it’s all dial, I like to keep it under 39mm.

Great job by Islander; it looks really good!

Except I just can’t get past their logo (pointing down like that, it just looks … flaccid … to me)

Islander crew did a great job with these.

Kinda wish they had gone with a 38mm size. And had even more color options available. I think the grey dial would have been sweet if they had matched the colors of the grey Islander Bayport which is Islander blue accents and gunmetal hands and indices for more contrast to the grey dial. And of course, they would have cost more, but Miyota 9075s would have been sweet too. But none of that is deal breakers.

But overall these are a nice design and as usual awesome values by Mark and the Islander crew.

I agree. Nodus uses the same basic dial for their GMT and have a 38mm case that's only 12.25mm thick. They use the Seiko movement too.

Theirs though is a sports watch and that's what has kept me away from their watch. I ordered a blue Islander, I just hope I can live with the thickness of it.

I own watches that cost £20 and I never worry about the cost of a watch. That said, I have always thought that the Islander watches (and 'some' micro brands), whilst some of them look cool, will not end up being a longer term keeper, nor hold value at all. For me, I would advocate that getting a brand with more heritage is the way to go, whatever the price.

Love that gray dial.
