Watches and Wonders

What watches are people interested in then?

I’ve already registered my interest with my AD on the 58 GMT, six ahead of me apparently. This is my next purchase providing it looks as good on wrist as I expect it to.

What about everyone else?

What are you registering for?

I know, worrying. I expected Tudor to catch my eye. It’s been the same for the past three years. Can’t afford for there to be anything else I like! 😂

Tudors ability to master the sub-12mm case height for all of their models is what i think people were waiting for. Hopefully this means a sub-12mm chrono also.

Edit: I guess the GMT is 12.8mm, which is still good. I hope to see them get under 12 for GMTs and Chronos.

Yes, although I love my standard panda Chrono, just wish it had the T-fit clasp. It’s either too big or too small depending on how much I ate during the week! 😂

I am hoping their 41mm GMTs will get a makeover soon with the thinner GMT movement they just released with the BB58 GMT. A 39mm with a rotating bezel is just a bit too small for me, but I lover their 41mm watches.

I'm curious if Harrod's will now move to the new 41mm METAS model.

My Panda dial Chrono is 41mm and I love it, but I have found as I’ve got older I prefer the smaller dial, ideally 39mm. I have three Panerai’s that I used to love wearing, but they barely get any wrist time anymore.

I love my 39mm Tudor Ranger, but I think that's because of how legible it is. As my eyes get older I tend to prefer watches that are easy to read at a quick glance. All of my other watches are 40mm+, but I do find myself preferring to wear the thinner models.

I’ve got to admit, I often find myself squinting at the dials nowadays. I suffer it though. I’m on the fence about thickness of watches as well, as I like them to fit nicely under my sleeve, but I like to feel some heft in the watch. It’s interesting how varied everyone’s tastes are and what aspects matter most to different people.

So true. And thickness is really neglected these days. For a Chronograph 12mm is quite thin though. There was a prototype with a new movement for onlywatch which unfortunately seemed quite chunky.

They should have made the BlackBay Pro with this smaller movement... missed opportunity in my opinion. I know people say it isn't that thick but it really is (and slab sided af) and we all know it deep down.

The BB Pro is also due for that new movement

If they make that change, that model will sell much better than before I have to imagine.

·

The BB58 GMT and the new Nomos colorways have caught my attention so far.

·

So far, I like what IWC is doing with their Portugeser (an underrated watch imo), the zenith defy chrono, that gold and green Tudor and the nomos stuff.

I know people are going to be into that BB58 GMT it’s basically a perfect watch.

·

The Grand Seiko SLGW003 manual wind high beat birch has been my favorite. Putting a manual high beat in a titanium case while keeping the thickness under 10mm is crazy

Ohh yes, it's just turned two years old, I think they'll be updating it next year.

I think the panda tag carrera glassbox is my favorite release so far.

Also, I wish Tudor would make a SS Pelagos for those of us that are too dense 😂to appreciate titanium. In addition, I hoped they would either retire the faux rivets or offer their 5 link on all the BB’s… imo it really ruins an otherwise beautiful design.

I saw that as well, but already have a Carrera and a Black Bay Chrono panda, so think I’m covered with chronographs. I’ve had that discussion with a friend today regarding the faux rivets, and I’ve actually grown to quite like them. Maybe just me!

·

I definitely would have wanted this timepiece if it wasn't for my recent purchase of the Explorer II 226570

That’s a lovely watch. Can’t argue with that. 👍

lol I’m prob in the minority with that opinion. They clearly sell them hand over fist with the faux rivets so tf do I know lol 😂

I think all companies announced everything new today, so you should be good from here on. 😀

·

One more vote for the Carrera Glassbox Panda. I'm still not sure if I prefer it over to the "classic" blue edition, though. Overall I found the releases today underwhelming - just different spins on very familiar designs.

This is my favorite too! Though way too expensive for me. The movement and dial are to die for!

·

Texted my AD this morning before opening to put down a depoit on the 58 GMT. Lets see how long it takes.

They don't even need to reduce the physical height. All they gotta do is shrink that flat, glaring side case and put more of the height into bezel/caseback, just like they did with the BB54.

That one looks absolutely stunning! That said, no capped second hand for a $10k model? They do it on cheaper ones. 😂

·

The black and burgundy just oozes class

·

I’m sorry but why so much Gilt - why can’t manufacturers make modern watches that look modern, watches naturally age gracefully they don’t need to look antique out of the box grrrrrrr

·

For me the BB58 is certainly a contender now. I’m not sure of the gilt on the bezel but the colour looks spot on. It would either be the above or BB Burgundy 😬

·

As boring as it is, the new 41mm monochrome black bay on the 3 link riveted bracelet with the t-fit system clasp is the one that I like the most. It feels like what Rolex used to be, a tool watch that is held to extremely high standards. It hits all the marks I want for it to be worth the price to me. Good size (39-41mm) flexible and can be worn in upscale and more relaxed environments. COSC and Anti-Magnetic in house movement is a big plus

The new Rolexes are disappointing, way too far to luxury for me. I get it and the place they have in the market but it’s not for me.

·

That GMT is certainly on my wish list. Just have to save up the cash to get one 👍🏻
