Seiko Dolce 6020-5930 • My first vintage watch!

So I just purchased my first vintage watch!

This is a 1982 Seiko Dolce 6020-5930. I really wanted a tank style dress watch with smaller proportions so I figured it’d be a great excuse to buy something vintage. With its 29.5mm diameter and 34mm lug-to-lug it checked off the boxes in terms of size. As for the movement, I would've loved mechanical but, as it’s my first time buying vintage, I felt a little more comfortable getting a quartz movement. And what better brand to buy a quartz from than Seiko? The seller said the battery and strap had just been changed which is great since I don’t have to try and source a 17mm strap.

I know Seiko have the Presage line of dress watches but I really feel like it’d be a cool idea to bring back the Dolce line as quartz/solar, tank style dress watches. Anyways, I’m absolutely in love with the look and proportions of this piece. I’m going to be wearing this a lot in the coming days :)

It's as the kids say... Totally sweet.

I totally agree!

The 6020 movement is actually quite nice looking as quartz movements go. All metal, no green plastic. These weren't throw away cheap quartz watches.

Oh that’s awesome. I really don’t know anything about these movements but that doesn’t surprise me given it’s Seiko. I’m going to do some research on the movements later but thanks for the info.

Very exquisite Seiko there 👌

Well done! I too would go quartz as a first vintage watch. A service on a vintage mechanical movement could easily be $500+ which for a watch under $1000 is insane. The Dolce line is criminally underrated. So many great designs for super cheap. I’ve been looking for a piece myself and I just ordered a SACM171. I can’t wait to see it in person!

Some of us are old enough that “vintage” just means a watch I’ve had for a while. This was my wedding watch in the 80s

Wow that’s sexy! Looks way better than it should for the price. I hope to get the steel version without the Dolce text on the dial (SACM151) but that’s hard to find so the 171 will do for now. That strap looks amazing on your watch! The stock strap definitely needs to be swapped out right away. It’s so plasticy looking and the taper is way too aggressive.
