Erebus overanalysis

Hello guys. Here’s some ideas I see as a storyline for Erebus. I hope I’m not spoiling anything if this really is a thing that’s just not been said out loud yet and I just happen to guess correctly. I just can’t unsee this, and it just seems so clear.

Erebus, the offspring of chaos, I basically see as a metaphora for us humans.

Origin is a diver, as the origin of life on earth is in the sea.

The Ascent then is the Ascent from the sea to the land, but it does not stop there as the Explorers we are, we also conquered the highest mountains. And also look to the stars (I ordered the starry Aventurine Ascent by the way, can’t wait for September).

Mu guess is that after Ascent there is perhaps a pilots watch as we liftoff through the sky? Let’s see. Also after that perhaps chronograph as we go to space (as in a Speedmaster).

What do you guys think is there anything to this?

I suspect you're reading too much into it, but a pilot's watch is a good guess for the next model.

Yeah I know, could be that I am. But I had to write it down so I can later say that I called it in case I’m right! 😄

Erebus ….Icarus.🤔

Very interesting take on the name choices you could be spot on!

Erebus making a pilot watch would be a tad insensitive to Jody's antipodean neighbours, given the horrendous loss of life in the New Zealand air crash on Mount Erebus in 1979. 247 people killed, not a single survivor.

It happened a long time ago certainly but it's a path strewn with potholes & dog turds should they choose to go down it.

This is definately a great post for 4-20

Your logic is sound

Erebus ….Icarus.🤔

Arrghhhh.... damn wings!! 😂

·

Sound reasoning if you ask me. I've ordered a Purple Helix

·

That analysis is so on point and beautiful that I will be actually sad if it turns out to be wrong...

They made a dive watch and HMS Erebus was the name of one of the ships in the Franklin Expedition... As a matter of fact, it's wreck was discovered by RCN divers only a few years ago.

Any name can be associated with a tragedy, so I doubt a plane crash 52 years ago will factor into things.

Erebus is a critical character in the Warhammer 40,000 franchise. It almost feels wrong not to prefix his name with "F*ck", given that's how almost everyone into 40k likes to refer to him. But you're right about one thing - he's a child of chaos for certain!

If he does a Word Bearers edition, or even a nod to Chaos Undivided or something.....I'm in.

Even without drilled lugs, I'll buy it if it's disposable Swatch level even 😆.

I think it’s from the the legendary british sailing ship Erebus, https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Erebus_(1826)

·

My guess is the chronograph

·

I wouldn't be surprised if Jody and company don't do a GMT next. For me that is the next evolution of the brand. Step one was a tooly diver, step two is a dressy sports watch, step three is a more refined watch with a bezel to incorporate the case shape of the diver with the dial treatments of the sports watch.

Whatever happens I feel like Jody and company have absolutely used everything he has learned over the last 7 years to crack the code.

·

Yeah about the pilot most likely some modern gmt intepretation instead of flieger style.

Or then it could ve that man needs to learn how to go fast before they can fly, ie. chronograph before the gmt 🏎️

So either way would fit the story I guess 🤷‍♂️ anyways, stories are important, thanks for all th comments and likes so far 🍻

Based on a reply from Mr. P on the Club Erebus FB group, a chrono or GMT is next.

Super! 👍

·

Come on, it‘s just one more watch

·

Great another gmt

Great another gmt

I’m done with them too

·

Thank god it has only one unit for the WR on the dial. I’ve come to wish all unit conversions on dials be done away with.

I'm a New Zealnder. I doubt anybody normal (not watch obsessed) would make a connection. I certainly wouldn't be offended. It's long time ago now.

I'm glad you further defined normal there 😜

To be frank, I have no idea why this tragedy stuck in my mind all these years on from it. I was 12 back then & with all the crap that's been stored in the brain since I would have thought this memory would have been sent to the bin by now.

·

A pilots watch with a type b dial would be pretty cool

·

This Aventurine version is my favourite. I’m very tempted to get one 😬
