I started collecting spontaneously. I am a person who loves hobbies and out of the blue one day I decided to browse the market to buy a new watch. And so it happened - I looked and looked, I started watching videos about which watch has what specs, why one is better than another, what makes a watch expensive, etc. I never stopped researching and now I have a box full of watches.
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
My first watch was probably some electronic and unpopular model. The truth is, I can't remember. I've had watches since I was a kid, but I remember a few of them. They were mainly Q&Qs that would last about a year each before another had to be purchased.
Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?
I don't have a watch with a very interesting story behind it, but all my watches are interesting to me and I have made memories with them. Whether I have been to another country with a watch or attended an important event with it, all this makes my watches more valuable in my eyes.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
My best advice is to follow your heart - yes, it's that simple. Look, no one can tell you what to like and what not to like. I made this mistake once, I was looking at a watch that was hyped on, everyone said it was very cool and I bought it even though I didn't really like it. A few months after that I sold it. Be smart and judge what is good for you, your taste and your budget. Stop looking at what others have - there will always be someone with something more expensive and shiny. It's your hobby and you choose how to have fun.
Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?
Well, I collect Japanese watches, although my favorite watch of all time is Swiss. As brands at the moment I can say that I adore Casio, Orient and Citizen. They suit my budget and my interests. I might buy a Seiko someday.
Q: What is your grail watch and why?
The watch I'm dying to own is the Omega Moonwatch Professional Co-axial Master Chronometer because it is a work of art! It's so stylish, with a rich history and can be worn for any occasion - walks, sports, formal events, it doesn't matter because it can do it all!
