Good eye. Hadn't noticed that resemblance but I think you're right.

Thanks and I love your town. Lived there for years when I taught at UT.

Thanks for posting this, John. I wasn't familiar with the brand. Appears to be well spec'ed.

Great watch but I LOVE the strap.

Let me say that I love christopher Ward watches and own several. However, and I'm sure I'm in a small minority, I find the Bel Canto to be a monstrosity. To me it looks like a grinning cyclops. And though it's difficult to imagine, I think the orange colorway makes it even worse. Not meant to be a criticism of those who disagree. Taste is subjective but I just couldn't resist the opportunity to say it. Now I'll shut up. 😬

For comparison, here are the suede gingerbread strap (Barton) on the Tissot Heritage 1938 COSC Chronometer and with the Hirsch strap that's now on the Seiko.

Have to agree. I purchased the "Tortoise" (sometimes mistakenly labelled the "land turtle") mainly based on price and the fact that I didn't own a Seiko at the time. In fact, its simple, elegant looks and remarkable accuracy (< 2s error a day) have made it one of my favorites. I'm not sure which strap I prefer.. The Hirsch dark brown strap is from my Tissot Heritage 1938 chronometer and while it looks great (imo) on the Seiko, it pairs perfectly with the "1938" vintage vibe. I'll give it a couple of weeks to decide.
