How scratched up do your watches get?

I’ll be the first to admit (and you can probably tell) that I don’t baby my watches. I don’t treat them delicately and don’t go out of my way to make sure they stay pristine. With that said, I also don’t live a super rugged lifestyle. I’m not out and about hiking, rock climbing, swimming, and doing other adventure activities with my watches. I’d like to think I collect an average amount of wear on my watches and bracelets, but looking at some of my watches would make it seem like they get put through the ringer!

My beater watch doesn't have as many scratches as this one and I work with sharp, pointy pieces of metal and machinery all day long...

I am never loaning you any of my watches! 😂😂😂

·

I brushed my Invicta bracelet today because it had a few scratches and I wanted to remove the polished sections. A bit of patience with a Brillo pad or similar would remove most of those if it matters to you.

·

That’s a pretty normal wear except for the clasp. Looks like you were underlining the Lorier logo.🤣

LOL I noticed that after scraping it against the side of a kayak by accident 😬😬it is a very interesting placement for the scratches

That’s a hell of a strong kayak 🤣

·

I don’t call that an average amount of wear.

·

I have bracelets from 70s and 80s and none look like this.

·

I tend to agree, I get more swirls and whirls than anything else.

Learned a long time ago to temporarily flip the watch head around, or cover it with a wrist sweat band if stuff is really getting hairy.

Have you polywatched the crystal? Everyone is always paranoid that the Lorier acrylics are going to scratch but yours is the most pristine part of the watch!

I have a couple… they’re in good shape compared to this poor guy lmao

·

My watches are exposed to leadership meetings. That's enough torture.

I was just talking about this today.

I'm not against scratches. But I also don't buy into the whole "every scratch is a story" BS.

There is a normal/expected amount of wear and tear that helps add to the overall experience. Trying to avoid that is, I think, to basically avoid enjoying the watch altogether.

Completely agree. I have not gone out of my way to protect my watch, but I also don’t actively try to knock it against things. Based on people’s comments I feel like I could try to be a bit more cautious though 😂😂

·

My Lorier Neptune and VAER C3 Tradition have been scratched up!! Granted, I wore them for their intended purpose sooooo at least it's being used

·

Not to bad but I honestly don’t care at all about the scratches I get on my watch. I mean I try to avoid scratches on the crystal but I ware my watches so I don’t have the expectation for them to stay in good shape.

·

When I wore my watches on a bracelet the bracelets tended to look like that. It happens from resting your wrist on concrete structures like a wall/table/bench, bumping things, etc...

I don't worry about the scratches on my watches, it happens to anything you wear on a regular basis. My shoes/boots, jackets, clothing, etc., all have marks from wear as well. The only items that aren't like that are my dressy clothes that get worn on rare occasion.

·

My beater got its first scratch it hurt a bit.

But now every little scratch just adds some "flavor" or character to it. But not as bad as yours. 😉

·

Looks gorgeous! Nice vintage(?) Falcon lol

·

I feel like you deliberately ignore your watch. I don't baby a watch, but I do acknowledge that it is on my wrist, and at least try to avoid scratches.

·

Good for you, wear and enjoy. You can't bring them with you!

·

How are your arms not bloody and bandaged?

·

It could be the next big thing, like jeans with holes in them. They could start selling "distressed" bracelets and cases on watches and charge more for them. I am rarely surprised by the gullibility of the public. Someone could make a fortune off this idea!

·

Crimes against humanity, that bracelet's condition.. 😭

·

Well....I am out hiking, biking and swimming with my watches 😜

They were made to take it!

Hiking, biking, camping, swimming, kayaking in pix above - spring drive watches with screw crowns are bomb proof 💪

Admittedly - I do like to swap out bracelets for waterproof leather or rubber straps if much sweat or water is involved!

·

My watches tend to scratch due to laptop use. But I also swap another of bracelets out so most of mine are in fairly good shape overall.
