What's your Top 3 Most Worn Watches in 2023?

Did you actually count? Or, did you just make an estimate? If it's the latter, most likely the estimate is not reliable, as you fell into the usual Law of Recency trap.

In 2023, I wanted to tally my MWW, and tried to ensure I didn't fall into the same trap. I created an excel sheet and counted my WRUW posts on a monthly basis.

As of December 31, 2023, I made 312 WRUW posts in total. I missed 53 days, probably because I was too busy, or just lazy to make the effort. But, I definitely wore a watch daily.

Here then is the tally of my Top 3 Most Worn Watches (MWW) of 2023:

#3 Columbia CL-1312 - Wore this 2005 gem at least 45 times, which is 14.42%. It's a precious piece, and quite comfortable to wear.

It's been one of my favorites to bring during my monthly out of town trips. #columbiacl1312

#2 Seiko 5 SNXS79 - This stunner was on wrist at least 48 times (15.38%). In fact, it was on wrist for 7 straight days last September, to celebrate the SNXS7x Week. #snxs7xweek

Image

This is no surprise as I really enjoy wearing this piece. I'm sure those who own an SNXS79, or any in the legendary SNXS7x series, will second my motion. 'Twas my go-to piece for business and client engagements throughout the year... and for date nights with my lady, of course. ;) #snxs79

#1 Timex Waterbury Traditional TW2R25400 - Isn't it obvious why this piece was on my wrist 53 times this past 2023? I mean, look at it...

Image
Image
Image

Its cool design and enamel-like dial is alluring. It was definitely one of my favorites to bring for my monthly out of town trips. And, it's just so much fun taking photos of it.

Image
Image

It's also so comfortable to wear, and is by far the most versatile in my collection (a.k.a. strap monster). #timexwaterbury

------------------------------ 0 ------------------------------

There are 2 Honorable Mentions worth noting, as they combined for 75 times being on wrist in 2023. I did this on purpose, endeavoring to give each watch in my collection, their due frequency on rotation. Interestingly, they both happen to be green dials. #greendials

Benyar BY-5185M - Wore this amazing beauty 38 times (12.18%), as an everyday piece and for business meetings.

Happily gifted this to my nephew this past Christmas, and his eyes glowed in amazement too. #benyarby5185m

Seiko 5 Sports SRPB93 - This ever reliable and go-to beach watch was on wrist 37 times (11.86%). #srpb93

That's it! That's my Top 3 Most Worn Watches for 2023, and the Honorable Mentions.

What's your 2023 Top 3 MWW? Have you made an official tally?

I only started tracking most worn recently… but think it was consistent with patterns of the whole year.

SBGA413 - Hana Ikada - Sakura love. Hiking, swimming, running, work - it goes everywhere.

SNR043 - Moonlight on the ocean 🌊 An everywhere watch

Image
Image

Seiko Alpinist - Alpy Mc Ginza face - happy on a mountain top or in flashy Ginza, but a very GADA 200m WR daily as well.

Will have proper stats for next year!!

This is my estimate and since I only have 7 watches I'm pretty sure it's accurate

Ah yes, the cool Clemence Photic Diver. That vintage Le Jour Rally Monte Carlo certainly blazed the trail for tiffany blue. And the RW GMT looks cool with its multi-sector dial. 😎

I think I can attest, my friend, that those 3 are indeed your MWW. I remember your SNR043 went with you on your solo kayaking trip few months back. And, your stunning Alpinist Ginza is always a breath of fresh air.

Really cool pieces, sir. I'm not surprised why they're your MWW.

I didn't count, but then again, I didn't need to. It's these three...

Longines Spirit

Image

Glycine Airman No.1

Image

Omega CK 2537-4 "Freckles" from 1949

Image

Hehe... for all you know my friend, the Omega "Freckles" beat out the Glycine by just a few days ;) But, I agree that the Longines Spirit is what I saw you post more often on WRUW. The days you didn't post I would guess you were still wearing it. Would be interesting to see the real score this 2024. :)

·
Kevinseiko

2023 was really my 1st year of collecting. I was fortunate to get some nice pieces by years end. 2024 will be a year of refinement.

Looking forward then to see the real score come December 31st. :)

A quick glance shows the new Explorer 1 is the only watch I’ve worn more than once this year already. I’ve worn it 3 times in 7 days.

Things are heating up! And it's just the 1st week of the year...

What duh..??!! Did you say 213??!! As in 2.. 1.. 3..??!! So are you saying the 213 is just the watches you wore... and you have more than that??

Image

Ahihihi... now that's a real collection! I wonder if you and @JaeBust have the same count? Hmm.. would be nice to find out. Hehehe

Yes that's what I'm saying. I have more than that too. Jae has a big money collection. I have a couple of more expensive pieces but I don't wear them. They are in a safety deposit box.

I have to go through the list because I know that I sold 3 or 4 of them. Maybe more I have to see. LOL I may take the ones I have and pile them up in the middle of the floor and take a picture. Hahaha

Edit: I sold a total of 22 watches that I wore.

·
hakki501

Oh so you based your count on WRUW. I'm sure you didn't wear those pieces only 7 times this whole 2023. Would be interesting to see then, how all the watches in your whole collection will do this 2024. ;)

Agreed.

I don’t participate in WAYW every day, days when I stay home and don’t wear a watch for example, but is probably representative. I was really surprised by my count and that my PO didn’t make the count.

Then again two were new to the collection last year and those tend to get worn more the newer they are. 😀

I think regardless if you post a photo on WRUW or not, doing a watch wear count for 2024 will be interesting. :) The new ones might give the old ones a real run for their moey. It's just Jan 8, so there's time to begin jotting down what you wore since Jan. 1. Cheers!

Whether you go with the blue #snxs77 or dark gray #snxs79, you can't go wrong.

The ebay link you sent showing a VINTAGE SEIKO 5 6309A ARABIC PINK DIAL MENS AUTOMATIC WORKING WRIST WATCH 37.5MM is way different in design.

different but also has its appeal

Great post! I love the pictures as always of course. You are an expert my friend.

I usually don't wear only one watch each day but sometimes 2 or 3 depending on the mood and occasion so based on my rough estimations these watches are in my top 3 most worn for 2023:

1) Seiko Duro - Blue & Green variants

Image
Image

2) Seiko Prospex Speedtimer

Image

3) Seiko 5 Arabic dial

You're too kind, my friend. Expert I definitely am not. But thank you as always for your compliment.

If my memory serves me right, I agree those are your top 4. The Duros surely were in majority of your WRUW posts. 🍻

I'm not surprised, bud. Those are really cool pieces. I wonder what the actual count will be this 2024? There's still time to begin counting. 😉

Following your post last week @hakki501, I realised I had only a rough idea of my watch habits. So I spent this weekend building my own Excel spreadsheet in order to monitor this.

Thanks to #wruw very carefully, I have been able to track my watches for 361 days out of 365..

It appears that unsurprinsgly my Citizen PMD56 is my most worn watch of 2023 with 129 times. I got this watch mid february for my birthday.

Image

Then it's the Casio G-SHOCK Casioak with 49 times

Image

followed by only two times less by the Farer Resolute with 47 times :

Image

Here is a screenshot of the whole statistics :

Image

Funny enough, I also tracked my movement habits and, after a long time only wearing automatic watches, my 2023 journey was highly a solar quartz year with 67% of the time.

It was very funny and interesting to play this game, I will definitely continue to do so for 2024.

Thanks Hakki for the great idea !

You definitely raised the bar on how to track our daily wearing habits to a higher level. Cheers to you!
