Seiko SPRK91

Gorgeously finished, razor-sharp applied markers, a solid-link bracelet that's comfy as any I own, brilliantly sized, and made in Japan...and less than $300, tax included, brand new.

I don't care what the old SNXS watches used to cost, this thing is a monster bargain and charming as hell.

Looks good

·

I was waiting for these to start turning up on WC

·

I hadn't even heard of them, thanks for sharing.

I really like how they stepped up their game on the case finishing compared the old SNXS series. It looks really sharp. The addition of a chapter ring around the dial is a nice touch as well. I always thought that these watches were a bit more on the sporty/casual side and I think this helps reinforce that image.

How is it on your wrist? The bulky display case backs that Seiko used on the original watches would give them this weird floaty effect that would make it look like the watch is levitating above the skin. That was always my only real criticism of the originals.

Saw an announcement, but this is the first I've seen in the wild. I'm a big fan of my new-old-stock SNXS. These will be a serious temptation! Thanks for sharing!

It weas beautifully to me. It’s super compact so I didn’t even notice any real thickness.

Love it! Yup - pure class. No need to get the Rolex OP now. 😜

Every watch like this I see makes me shed a tear for my old SARB I bought 20 years ago, but sold to a watch maker when it broke.

Well, you'll still need that OP to get the Insta likes and to let folks know how much you're willing to spend on your watch, but for the cost of that OP's standard Rolex service you could buy all 3 color variants of these new 5s, so that's something.

·

Where did you find it

·

Amazing, where did you buy it?

·

The people who complain about current Seiko prices are oftenignorant to the reasons why Seiko prices were so low for so long. The problem was that Seiko had a big distribution problem that didn’t keep up with the Internet. Now they have and there appear to have maintained some of their price integritiy.

Ditto

·

Beautiful watch. People will complain about the cost of Seiko and then will spend $35 at a diner eating greasy food. 😊😊😊

·

Holy guacamole. Just give it 100m of WR and they got the old ones beat.

·

I'm just glad they have drilled lugs.

Sharp watch dude! Gonna wait to see when they bring some more colors, hoping for a bright white.

Wait for the cringe-y YouTube heads to bemoan the "One Reason Seiko Can't get it Right" or some such...the dreaded "Hardlex" sux rant.

·

Quite a looker! Still, I think the price is a bit too high for it.

If it comes down closer to 200 I’ll think about it.

·

Sweet watch David. 😎

·

It does look really good. And there was me saying I wouldn’t buy any new watches this year…

·

Hey there, just curious. What's the water resistance on that beauty? That's what it's making me decide rather if getting the new SNXs or the old ones...

These are 100m

man, this is an impulse buy waiting to happen. Would make an excellent beater watch.

·

I love the colour and treatment of that dial! The case is impeccable, I think.

I hear you--It's a beater on paper, but properly a damn nice watch on wrist. Under a macro lens, on a timegrapher, or staring at the parts you can't see when you're actually wearing it (i.e. the clear caseback and folding clasp), sure...it's a $300 Seiko. But at arm's length, the "5" logo on the dial is the only reminder that it doesn't cost ten times more.

Sweet watch David. 😎

Very happy so far. No matter how many watches I've owned and how old I get, I find I still get the most joy out of buying and wearing inexpensive ones that get all the important stuff right.

·

Lol. They should have an online presence for calls...

Betcha they sell em out real fast, just from WC traffic alone hahahaha 😁.

Nice watch though dude.

I'm still crossing my fingers for the usual midsummer Seiko releases coming in a white, teal, or olive dial.

Ha--I sorta love that they're not an online shop. It would ruin the vibe and the ability for me to swing by on a whim, try out the new stuff, and know I'm getting a great deal from people who will stand by everything they sell. It's everything fun about shopping for a watch with absolutely none of the jewelry store or boutique BS. Let 'em be!

Just saw it on Seiko Malaysia's instagram. Silver, Black and Blue dials. Nice!

Image

The Blue and Black are both really tempting. The dials are super matte finished--no reflections whatsoever. The blue is much darker in person and the orange hand looks fantastic against them both. It was a tough call between the three but I ended up going for the dressiest of the group. I was in a fancy mood ;)

Lucky man and I would actually agree with you there!

I meant beater in the most loving way possible hahaha. Looks like a great piece I would wear almost anywhere and it’s “affordable” enough for me to wear it, worry free. I realize that comes from a place of privilege. Enjoy the piece, that’s a keeper!

Didn't take it any other way! But it's definitely one of those terms folks in this hobby use to backhand-compliment a watch and I really do think this isn't so much "good for the price" as it is "good enough to make me question some watches I paid a lot more for"

Absolutely. Can’t wait to see it in the metal.
