SOTC - My two piece “collection”
- Casio AE1200 aka royale as my quartz sports/beater/travel watch
- San Martin SN021-G-B1 aka San Martin explorer as my automatic everyday watch
What to say about this duo? The Casio have almost every complication, day-date, stopwatch, timer, world time, besides 100m water resistance and a 10 year battery. I actually use it everyday as well to the gym. Can’t name a more complete beater, maybe only the tough solar g-shock.
The San Martin is the perfect every day watch (for me). It has the look of my favorite watch, the 1016 explorer, but without the problems of a vintage watch. The applied indices is what make this watch even easier to dress up, besides the 36mm size. The steel finishing is impeccable, the dome sapphire crystal has great AR coating, the movement is 28.800 vph, giving that smooth sweep, 100m water resistance as well and screwed down crown. Almost a flawless watch for 340 dolars.
I’m really happy with this “collection” for now, it suits me in almost every scenario, so i dont feel like buying another watch for a long time.
Where would i go from here? What watch or kind of watch would you add to this collection?
I really don’t see myself passing the four watch collection, neither spending more than 500 dolars on a single watch, but i’m curious to see your thoughts.

Looks like a perfect collection already. I would add a diver, maybe a Citizen Promaster or #glycine Combat Sub. If you want a dress watch, Seiko has a few good quartz options. Or maybe a #tissot if you want an automatic.
My collection continues to grow to silly amounts, I can't stop. I love having a big collection and being able to choose a watch like a kid in a candy store.
But I agree with you about pricing, since there are many watches under $500 that are excellent. That's not to say that I may one day buy one that is more expensive, but it would be for a special occasion and only if I feel it would be worth it.
