Do you think I made the right call?

I sold my 40mm Explorer and got this less common "white grape" 36mm OP instead. My wrist size is 17cm. Do you think I made the right call?

You have the same wrist size as me. I can understand why you might not like the 40mm Explorer. It wears long and flat. I think I might get a used 39mm version when prices stabilize. They are very different for just one mm difference.

The OP is really nice. Only you can know if you’re satisfied. It’s a classic and looks great.

The 36 OP wears very nicely on you, I’m a sucker for an explorer but IMO you made the right choice

Thanks 😊

·

Yes. But if the Explorer had been 36mm, no.

·

Yes I think you made the right choice. That OP is unique with such a rich and mesmerizing dial. The size is also perfect on your wrist. The Explorer is a classic for a reason but I would probably get bored of the plain black dial after a while, so if you have had some time with it and enjoyed it, moving to that unique and beautiful OP is a great idea.

·

totally, that OP looks great, the Explorer is in my opinion so overrated and boring.....and let´s be honest, historically the OP is the true explorer

·

i would have done the same. The OP Looks Great and much more special than the Explorer!

·

I prefer the Explorer for myself, but can't deny that your new watch does look superb on you.

I'm older & more conservative in my tastes, life's too short and goes so quickly you've gotta wear what makes you happy & genuinely don't give a toss what others think.

But for the record, I think it looks classy but not too in yer face. I like it 😎👍🏻

·

I do like the OP better, and it looks great on your wrist size! 😄

36mm looks goood on you

·

I like the color of the Explorer better as it is more versatile. But I'm totally with you for picking the size of the OP. My wrist is 16.7 cm and I can attest that 36-38mm watches are very comfortable.

·

Can’t go wrong with OP, versatile timepiece! Not a common dial, looks great on your wrist. Elegant but also sporty! I’m a blue dial fan, I recently acquired a blue dial 36mm datejust with fluted hazel and oyster bracelet. My number one combo on this datejust. Elegant also sporty! Can’t stand the jubilee bracelet, too dressy for me!

Yes because I don't like the Explorer or 40mm whilst the 36mm OP is quite nice.

·

36mm looks great! Just out of curiosity, did you try a 34mm to see how it fit?

100% looks like the right call to me - and I love the 40mm Explorer. I would say the 36mm OP is an objectively better fit for you and a more interesting and subtle watch that dresses up more than the Explorer so is even more versatile (and less common).

Thank you for the feedback 🥂

They are both gorgeous so I don’t think there is a wrong decision to be made.

Did you get a good price on the Explorer?

I got the OP for about $6300 if my memory serves me right..

I think the 36 it looks great on you! Lug length can definitely make or break a watch. I think you can definitely pull off a 40mm dial, but I understand that lug length can completely hangs the way a watch wears. Similar to how people complain of a 37mm Nomos with 48mm lugs.

For reference, my 40mm Pitzmann on my 6.5”/16.5cm wrist; 46 lug to lug.

My 37mm KS with 44mm lug to lug.

Both watches have “visible wrist” on each end past the lugs when viewed from the top.

Thanks for the feedback. The Pitzmamn looks great.

36 OP looks better on you than the 40 Explorer.

How does it feel to you?

I’m a 17cm wrist as well and have my name down for the 36 Explorer.

·

Does the OP design sing to you?

Personally it doesn’t (despite me owning the 34mm white dial OP from 2016 or so for a year), I find the 36mm Explorer more to my taste.

So kinda depends on which design you like more.

Thanks for the feedback. The Pitzmamn looks great.

Thanks! I’d prefer it to be 38mm, but no such thing as a perfect watch! Your OP is a stunner. Beautiful dial too!

·

I think 40mm is (in general) still wearable at your wrist size, even though this one was a tad large on you. But the white grape one is also a bit dressier and more suggestive of an individual's taste. On balance: good call.

·

Its stunning! Were you considering the explorer in 36 too?

Yes, funny that’s the one I requested initially from my AD however, they only offered me the 40 😂 … I bought it.. tried to connect with it.. but in the end, it was just too large for my preference.. my wrist size is about 6.6 inches

Yeah i feel the same i have just over a 7” wrist but i think the 36 has some effect where it just visually works. Im going to see one in the metal at a pre owned dealer soon
