My girlfriend -yes, definitely not imaginary nor from Canada- thinks this two tone beauty of Seiko5 goodness looks like something a man of questionable income would wear.
I don’t care 🤷🏻♂️I love it. It’s a classic design whether you’re a pimp or an American psycho yuppie broker or none of those things.
We joke about it together and I continue wearing my “pimp’s watch” with pride and joy.

There's nothing wrong that watch. Had it been 45-55mm then yes, your non imaginary gf not from Canada would be right. But at 38mm, this is definitely what a young lawyer would have worn in his first year out of school. Then, he would drive off in his 1987 BMW 325i. Red, two door and most definitely convertible.
Otherwise, solid watch
That's actually a good sign. If she thinks that's a pimp watch simply because it's two-toned, then she must not be into watches, and therefore, not into wearing jewelry. That should make some room in your holiday gift budget. 😎👍

It’s a great watch. But prices for this one went a little crazy since these models were discontinued around 2010.
A 150$ watch now goes for around 400$. But it’s still one of the best and cheapest alternatives to a datejust with fluted bezel.
It's a classic watch. The gold dial does make it a little flashier, but still a very versatile piece. Very nice pickup 👏👏👏

The girlfriend is also usually a model of sort and the only photos look like magazine clippings. Knowing these references shows our age a little... These days it's all Photoshop usually poorly with extra arms reaching around or a ghost hand on a random shoulder.

Truth be told, living in Canada with a Canadian girlfriend ain't that bad. Especially in Quebec. We get poutine, milk in bags and to crown it all... Ketchup flavored chips.

You cannot go wrong with these old school Seiko 5 watches. I would own boxes of them if it weren't for the fact I don't have room.
