AD Call - too soon?

Got a call from my AD earlier today. I waited exacly 4 months for this (is this long?) and now I'm very excited, but ...

Earlier this year I bought a SMP 300 black dial and I still am in the honeymoon phase. I'm wearing it every day and I can't get enough of it. I am kind of overwhelmed and even though I really want the OP it feels "too soon".

Can anyone relate?

Congrats on getting the call but can’t relate as both watches are way outside my price range.

Sometimes it just happens that way. I wouldn’t turn down the OP, but that’s just me. Congratulations!

They are completely different so I’d say take it while you can.

If it’s too much and you don’t feel comfortable it won’t be hard to sell on.

Totally get it. Bought my BB58 from my AD in January of last year and then my buddy decided to sell his NOMOS I wanted forever all of 30 days later. Long term having a honeymoon cut short isn’t bad.

Now getting a call from an AD for a wild piece that I thought was unobtanium the day after I booked a vacation. That was a tough one.

Congratulations! If you have the money and still want the watch, go for it.

I first got on the list at my AD for a new Rolex right after I bought my grail Speedy. At the time, I was also worried that they would call too soon (during my Speedy honeymoon phase). 4 years and many (many) watches later with no call, I don't worry about that or ever getting the call anymore.

I can relate! I also love the black dial SMP even after 15months of owning… truly stunning. If you think you will regret selling it, then don’t! Or just buy the OP and sell it for 2k profit and keep the SMP 😂

If they're still selling above MSRP, just buy it and then flip it, and use the profit for something else!

I bought a grail - and was loving it as you'd expect - and then the opportunity to buy something I really coveted (and was almost a grail itself), came up within maybe 2-3 months of getting the grail.

So I bought it, because it was a genuinely good buy and I knew I really wanted it. But I can tell you the result was that it distracted me from the grail, and sometimes I didn't even know which to wear... and I'd wear a third, different watch instead. So yeah, it actually cruelled the enjoyment of the grail, didn't give me the purchase experience I normally get from a watch I really wanted, and sort of messed up my rhythm.

Just my story.

I heard OPs in black are "easier" to get and have shorter waits. Get it if you're able to!

If they ring me I will have to say no ! The money has been spent on a Tudor & Overseas holiday:)

Money well spent! Where are you travelling to?

I went to Thailand in Feb for a month 🙂 I got my watch in Bangkok so I saved around $450 AUD in taxes . The Australian customs guy was a gem too , I declared it but he said to me “ you went across the border with it didn’t you , didn’t you , I went ah oh yeah he said all good 👍🏼 pass on .

You may want to pick it up because it may be a while before you get another chance. You can always sell it anyway.
