It’s not just case. Lug to lug really matters a lot. Also, bezel thickness to dial can really alter the visual appeal significantly. For me, 40mm to 44mm cases tend to work best, with the lug to lugs working well on my wrist with the watches in my collection.
None of the above all look ridiculously small on me & make me feel stupid. Only reason I don't have a Field Watch in my Collection is because they are all really small & yes this irritates me very much. Minimum size for me would be 45mm with 50mm Lug to Lug.

It depends. I tend to prefer larger dive watches (41-42) and smaller field and dress (37-40) watches.
