Watch Pyramid from Anglo Swiss watch store

Visited Anglo Swiss watch store today in my city for pickup of a serviced watch. Saw this interesting list there.

Seems about right.

·

They correctly identified every brand above Casio as luxury.

·

That pyramid shape seems pointless but I agree with the tiers.

·

Personally I think this list is bonkers, I'd move like half the entries to different tiers. But there are other people who will look at this and think it's perfect, that's part of the fun of a subjective hobby like this. It's also hard with brands that are all over the place to put them in one tier. JLC could comfortably fit on like 4 levels depending on what watch you're considering, same with Cartier and Ulysee Nardin and Glashuette Original and more. Not to mention ultra high-end sub brands like L.U.C. or Credor. Time also plays a significant role, 20 years ago Franck Mueller were amongst the best, now they're an afterthought most would argue are on par with IWC or Panerai, 5 years ago Timex was a joke, now theyre putting out watches that sell out and collabing with Worn & Wound and Seconde Seconde, 1 year ago Chris Ward was a good but vanilla enthusiast brand, now they're one of the most exciting up and coming independents. Something like this should have the brand names on magnets so everyone who walks by can change it to their own preference!

Hublot should have its on category below casio.. trash 🔥💯💯💯

An excellent visual aid for up-selling

·

Angelo has been smoking something

·

A lot of people will revolt at some of these (Omega in the same tier as Rolex) but to me this seems about right.

·

Seems about right, remembering higher luxury doesn’t equate to a better watch. Better is in the eye and the needs of the wearer.

·

The labels are the awful though. Everything’s luxury and mid range is at the bottom. 🤷🏻‍♂️

·

I found myself analyzing this with great interest as we humans are wired to rank things.

In all honesty though, these always bother me. Find joy and value based on what you think is important. I give no credence to anyone telling me my insanely rad 2531.80 is lower on some hierarchy than anything else.

·

That’s one of the closest to my opinion I’ve seen except I’d drop bremont down a notch and you could put seiko anywhere in the list up to luxury as they have something at every level

Harsh on omega but I can live with it

·

Alpine should be one level lower - Entry lux… and also its missing in that same category Zodiac, Marathon, Junghans. The Basic lux… is missing Union Glashutte and Muhle. Also Tag Heuer should be in the Luxury… category and Bulgari should be included. Just my thoughts :)

·

This looks more like a price hierarchy than a brand cachet hierarchy.

SPOT ON.

·

With only a few exceptions it seems quite correct

·

How I feel this thread will go…

I would add a few more tiers do be a bit more precise. However it’s a good indication for people who are new to the watch world

·

Not sure I agree at all. Bovet above AP and Patek who make minute repeater tourbillions?? Uhm No.

·

Imagine what wud the Japanese wachmaker’s pyramid looks like ?

Bulgari for sure....

Bulgari for sure....

You don’t agree? :)

·

In addition to my prev comment with missing and not properly aligned brands - the following are missing as well - Roger Dubois, Gerard Peregue, Bulova, Movado

·

Hublot ranked as High End Luxury? It doesn’t seem right to me.

·

I would agree with all shown apart from Hublot being high end luxury. In my opinion they belong in the luxury watch segment.

·

There are several of these lists going around. They all provide some decent guidance to someone who doesn't know about watches, but there will aways be some disagreements from enthusiasts for where some brands lie. Here are a couple more such lists.

Of course! I'm agreeing

·

Can’t say I disagree. I like me some basic luxury watches tbh.
