SOTC - One Spot Left

I posted my collection a few months ago as I was thinking of making some changes. After moving on from a few pieces and aquiring some new ones, this is where I’m at. Overall, I’m pretty happy with where my collection stands.

Top row: Tudor Black Bay Pro, Hamilton Pilot Day Date, G-Shock GWM-5610

Bottom Row: Omega Speedmaster, IWC Pilot’s Chronograph 41 Ceratanium, JLC Reverso Duoface, IWC Mark xx

The obvious hole in my collection is a dive watch. As you can see, there is a glaring space open in my box just asking for a new watch. With that being said, what are your recommendations for a dive watch that could fill that lonely spot in my watch box and complement what I already have?

Thanks, that’s a good suggestion. Doxa does have some great colored dials that could spice up my collection

I have definitely been checking out the green sea master for some color in my collection

·

I love it too, it gets a lot of wrist time for sure. A lot of people complain about the thickness, but that really hasn’t bothered me at all.

·

That exactly what I’ve been thinking. I gravitate to the more boring dials, but I would like to add something with a more colorful dial.

Probably anywhere between 3-10k range. The jlc and omega are both on my short list for sure.

Rolex sub to complete this solid collection

I’ve been putting it off, but it may be time to break down and add a Rolex

How about this outside the box diver from Vulcain?

I think it has a certain strange authority. And yes, I know it has no crown guards. Are you actually going to go skin diving?

It really depends on your preferences but based on your collection I assume that you don't shy away from (slightly) larger watches and that you would prefer a diver that is on the dressier end of the spectrum. The Sub comes naturally to mind, but if you want something you can actually readily buy I would recommend the following: Glashütte Original SeaQ or SeaQ Panoramadatum, Seamaster 300, Seamaster SMP 300 (in green) or Tudor Black Bay (maybe in Burgundy Red).

Technically you have two spots open - the empty space in the box and your wrist. That way the box always looks complete, even when you are wearing one. 😉

·

A white dial? Lorier Gemini II perhaps?

·

The new Longines Legend Diver 39mm in blue also looks promising. Might want to check it out. :) Also agree with. Blue Tudor Pelagos :)

·

It depends on your budget.

From major brands my personal top 5 choices would be:

  1. It is a tie between a Rolex Sub and an Omega Seamaster Diver 300 Professional

  2. Breitling SuperOcean 42

  3. Tudor Black Bay 58 blue

  4. Tudor Pelagos FXD

  5. Honorable mention: most G-Shock

From microbrands my top 5 personal choices would be:

  1. Lorier Neptune

  2. Mane Hudson 38 MK4

  3. Baltic Aquascaphe

  4. RZE Resolute Compressor

  5. Formex Reef

Of the ones mentioned above I own the Omega Seamaster Diver 300 Professional, the Tudor Black Bay 58 blue, the Lorier Neptune, and two G-Shock.

Of course, taste is very personal.

That is a very good point. Getting into vintage is something that has interested me. I would enjoy getting into that side of watch collecting.

Whole new segment that can pull you in. Just don't blame me for any potential addictions and/or severely impacted family budget😉

What you need is color and flair.

There are a thousand affordable microbrand divers out there if you just fancy dipping your toe in the water.

But this is a very solid collection of purposeful watches. So you may want to cut to the chase and go for something more serious from Tudor, Omega, Rolex.

You could do a submersible to scratch the diver itch if you have it, but I think Panerai could add to the collection. Vacheron obviously would be great but along the same lines of AP and Patek. Something from Breitling could even be interesting.

That’s something I’ve definitely considered as well. If I hold off on a diver, I can save up and get a trinity watch down the road. There are plenty of divers that interest me, but there may not be one that jumps out enough for me to actually buy it.

Those are some good options. I’ll have to look into some of those microbrand ones that I haven’t seen.

You nailed it, that’s exactly what I’m going for. I try to keep my collection purposeful and only buy watches I love and will actually wear. It’s easy to buy a watch just to check a box, but that’s what I’m trying to avoid.

Given your handle 'comfortably_numb,' seems only fitting to have an Omega Dark Side of the Moon in there somewhere. 😉

·

Great collection! Which one is your favourite? And most and least worn over the years? Cheers! 🍻

Thanks! I’d say my most worn is the mark xx, but my favorite is definitely the Reverso. Over the years, the Hamilton is probably the one that gets the least wrist time.

Amazing! I would assume one of the chronographs would be one of your fav! Yeah the Hamilton is the big boi *size wise of your collection 🤟

But for real, the new Ingenieur would be so dope. Either the green dial or the Ti with the grey dial 🔥🔥
