Are the CWC Reissue RN DIVERS worth the price?

Been looking at these for quite some time now. No 2254s pop up in my country so these would be the next best thing but the price they ask for a quartz on a nato seems steep.

So I’d like to get some feedback from those who have bought or were going to buy these! If you bought it did you feel satisfied with your purchase? To those who skipped, what did you buy instead?

Cheers WC peeps 🫰🫰🫰

I like them , but they are woefully overpriced given the spec - cooper watch on Aliex make a lovey homage (less than £100 too) quartz on a nato as well.

If it were me , I’d let that watch be my gateway before I were to put down considerable cash on a CWC.

Just a thought: due to purchase power - I doubt the Uk ministry of defence pay full asking price for a CWC.

Ps: if you check out my WRUW reel , you’ll see one on it a couple months back.

Thanks saw it just now! I like it but i like your WMT milsub more hehehe! How do you like WMT? I was looking more on the 2254 Peter Black milsubs than the Rolly milsub ones ✌️

Here's a listing on Chrono24 for a CWC RN Quartz issued in 1995. Over $2000.

Yes these are cool & fetch the prices they do as they were actually issued by the MoD to personnel

·

I have a few and absolutely love them! Although they are expensive for what they are.

·

Waaaaay too expensive. I like the design but for the money you pay, you could get far better equipped watched imho

·

A little pricey but they are quality pieces. The bezel is possibly the best I have ever used. I enjoy mine.

·

Overpriced maybe, also kinda subjective. Mainly because these are filed under the "tactical" tax, or legit issued to high-speed, low drag types, which adds at minimum $200, $500, or $1K.

Don't believe me, compare the PSA Dagger to the "SF" Glock 19x.

Gets really bonkers when you start comparing a bone stock 1911 to an STI 2011. Don't get me wrong, love the STI's but a PSA Dagger and/or Rock Island 1911 still go bang too. YMMV.

·

It’s a very nice watch on the outside. However, the quartz movement inside costs around 10 dollars. So the question is: does the looks justify the price? I think it doesn’t, and that’s what has prevented me from buying one.

·

For the money they are asking I would go with a Helson shark master 300 unless you really want quartz

Man I can’t ever seem to get a hold of that Helson. Their website doesn’t load 80% of the time and when jt does its sold out

·

I do love the look of the bezel insert on the herritage models, I'm planning on asking if they'd swap one onto a standard RN300 automatic when I'm ready to buy one - hoping that if I go to Silvermans in person and bat my eyelashes they might do me a favour

That said I do think the price of the quartz models is a tough pill to swallow given the cheapo Ronda inside

·

They are a tank and will last forever, love CWC .

The WMT one is great - lume is poor though , otherwise decent.

The San Martin 6200 is probably my fave milsub though (see my WRUW)

That little San Martin was my most worn watch last year. Build quality and looks are incredible for the price.

CWC is a great brand. I couldn’t justify one of the RN reissues, but after some research I realised they still issue to the SBS. With that knowledge, I purchased an SBS diver and have been very happy with it. It’s a tough watch, but can be lightened up for summer with a coloured nato (I went for an orange CWC nato with black pvd buckle).

I have the CWC SBS Diver and I couldn't be happier. It's a great brand, great watch and with a great REAL military heritage.

Sure, it's probably a tad expensive for what you actually get. But that can be said for literally any watch brand. Whatever extra you're paying, that's for the brand history and story. Which, in my mind, is part of the fun/charm in collecting.

It is a frequent wear piece for me too Clive. I only wish it had milsub hands.

·

It’s a lively re-issue

·

I’ve asked myself this same question! So, im glad i was able to read your sub and its comments. Thanks for posting!

·

I’m detecting some quartz hate and bias with some of these posts. I think the CWC is a lovely watch especially with a NATO.

·

CWC - great watch! Bags of history and some good used ones on the market.

What about a 2264? Quartz / stunning watch and maybe something worth considering to add to your collection?

In fairness I don't think it's general quartz hate, more just disappointment at seeing THAT Ronda quartz movement in particular. I've just checked and it's cheaper than a CNS strap!

I understand what you’re saying. Thanks for clarifying.

I was in the same boat, the CWC Navy diver has the look I wanted but the price for me is just to much so not going to happen,

I opted for an MWC model a while ago and I am not disappointed,

Sapphire lens screw-crown excellent build quality

Was thinking of getting a MWC as well but read a lot of nasty stuff regarding their QC online. How is yours holding up? Love the CWC-look but as stated previously - expensive

To be honest the first one had to be sent back as the bezel didn't quite align with the baton markers on the dial but I had no issues with the replacement sent, even the seconds hand hits the track bang on, so to sum up I am still pleased with it for the money even now, even some Seiko have these problems, but I still don't know who else could do a better watch for the money if you want this look solid build construction and specs.
